TRUST NOT ON MATERIALISM

Brethren that is where our lesson anchors (this morning), I am giving this lesson so that you will realise yourself and stop trusting on people or seeking the mundane things. For it is because of your quest for the material things that we have problems on earth.

we have been made to understand that the things which are seen are temporal and shall pass away but the things which are not seen which is our Lord Jesus Christ, shall exist for eternity.

Therefore, the worst mistake we have so far committed is by putting our trust in our fellow man because once this is done, it becomes difficult to serve God.

This is why it is stated in the scriptures that wherever your faith and belief is there shall your love and heart be. That is also why people are mourning, people are sick, dying, quarreling and fighting.

All these problems are caused by man's love for mundane things in which he so much entrusts his heart. undoubtedly, the love we have for material things constitute the problems of the entire world.

It is the result of these problems that peace, love, joy, stability have continuously eluded man on earth.

To this end, whenever you come across someone who is angry, quarrelsome in nature, keeps malice, begrudges, mourns and weeps, know that such a person is in love with material things, and is similarly of the world.

The English axiom has it that , “A good beginning makes a good ending.” If your faith is in God and Our Lord Jesus Christ, then you are already firm and for that reason, you shall neither be shaken nor quarrel with anyone.

When your faith is firm you will not frown your face, lament and shed tears or fight . Of course who are you going to fight with?

In the same vein, even if fire should consume all your houses and property you will not feel it, or even if everyone should die, you will not feel it because you are trusting in God and in Christ.

HOLY RIFT, WAR OF WORDS CHARACTERIZE ABAS CRS COLLOQUIUM DISCUSSANTS SESSION

It was an extraordinary session of academic dialogue at the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Awi as the Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars under the aegis of ABAS Cross River State held its colloquium discussant session

The educative programme featured erudite scholars within the State as they brought their professional analyses to bare on different topics of societal interest.

The panel of discussants consisted seasoned and knowledgeable scholars from diverse academic disciplines including brother Edet Osudu, CA Success Augustine, Sister Hakate Samuel and SCS Samuel Ekong as guest speakers.

While anchoring the session, the presenter, HE Stella Tabot provided a prologue on the topics for discussion which set the tone for each of the discussions

The topic for discussion were "THE MENACE OF DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT DRUG TRAFFICKING, AND EMPOWERING WOMEN AND GIRLS; STRATEGIC PATHWAYS FOR ERADICATING POVERTY AND INEQUALITY". As the session lasted, the guest analysts who often varied on the submissions of co analysts erupted into a heated debate in a bid to further buttress their points

The audience were equally not left out on the intellectual exchange as they equally aired their views on the topic and asked the analysts clarity seeking questions.

The event was well attended by ABASites as well as members of the Joint Christian Campus Fellowship (JCCF) Awi Chapter who equally took active part in the academic dialogue.

This initiative is coming as part of activities marking the ABAS CRS Evangelical Convention at Akamkpa with the theme: Divine Breath: Revitalized for Divine Exploits (Ezekiel 37 vs 4-6)

EVANGELICAL CONVENTION GATHERS MOMENTUM AS OVER 700 ABASITES FLOOD AKAMKPA VILLAGE SQUARE FOR A MEGA OPEN AIR

The ongoing 7 days ABAS CRS Evangelical Convention at Akamkpa has taken a significant turn as the day 5 brought a spiritual awakening and liberation to the good people of Akamkpa when ABASites gathered for a mega open service.

The service which was staged at the village square in Akamkpa struck villagers in a fixated stare and glare as they watched ABASites adorned in white chant scintillating praises to the Father.

Ministering through the salvation and grace of the Holy Spirit, the officiating Priest MCS Wealth Okama who is the bethel priest of Akamkpa Pentecostal Center dispersed the undiluted message of the Father which blasted through the public address systems

Not fewer than 700 ABASites attended the Spirit filled service.

COMMENDATIONS POUR IN AS ABAS CRS COMMUNITY SERVICE LEAVES AKAMKPA SPOTLESS

Village locals have been thrown into a state of absolute awe as hundreds of ABASites flooded the streets of Akamkpa, for an unsolicited community service.

The kind gesture which took place in the early hours of Saturday is in line with the lofty programmes of the State Evangelical Convention taking place in Akamkpa.

ABASites of the State extraction in good spirits and kitted in their sanitation gears and reflectors; aided with their handy sanitation equipments came out in their full strength to clean the community. From removing heavy dirts in the gutters to clearing drainages, from picking dirts on the streets to sweeping compounds to weeding grass and clearing track roads, marking a symbolic gesture which has left a lasting impression in the hearts of the community residents as a once squalor environment is turned spotless.

The humanitarian service which extended to Ofutane street, police station, market square, Ntui Ogra street, Obassi Hotel, Ekpe hall and Nyong Owuna street attracted the attention of locals as some nodded their heads in approval and commendation and showered praises on ABASites for the act.

The over one hundred participants in the community service cuts across the various chapters in the State such as ABAS UNICAL, ABAS Ambo, ABAS UNICROSS, ABAS Biasé, ABAS UEE and ABAS Akamkpa, the host Chapter etc.
