RATTAWU PRESIDENT RECEIVES UNI-AFRICA REPRESENTATIVES, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR FIRST UNI-MEI CONFERENCE IN NIGERIA
The President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) of Nigeria warmly received the Representatives of UNI-Africa at the Union’s National Secretariat, in recognition of the strong partnership and active participation of RATTAWU as an affiliate in UNI-Africa programmes and activities.
The visit by the Uni-africa newly elected Women President, Comrade Pauline Sawadogo and the regional Women coordinator of Uni- Africa, Comrade Leocadie Bodjouo, underscores the importance and desire to reward commitment, dedication and good participation which RATTAWU has achieved in the activities of Uni- Africa as an affiliate.
During the engagement, the UNI-Africa representatives formally conveyed the intention to host the first-ever UNI-Media, Entertainment and Arts International (UNI-MEI) Conference in Nigeria, a landmark event aimed at fostering dialogue, cooperation, and development within the media and creative industries across Africa.
The President of RATTAWU Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu (Magic Fingers) expressed deep appreciation to UNI-Africa for choosing Nigeria as the host Country for the historic conference, describing the decision as a demonstration of confidence in Nigeria’s labour movement and the Union’s commitment to promoting professional excellence and workers’ welfare within the Media and entertainment industry.
He assured the representatives of RATTAWU’s full cooperation and readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure the successful hosting of the conference.
The UNI-Africa delegation, alongside RATTAWU leadership, paid a visit to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, to formally inform him of the planned conference and seek the support of the Congress.
The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration within the labour movement and emphasized the strategic significance of the conference to workers and stakeholders in be and beyond.
The NLC President assures Congress willingness to support the hosting of the conference and appreciates how RATTAWU with the coming of President Kalu has changed the narratives and projected RATTAWU 's visibility.
The occasion at the RATTAWU Secretariat was graced by HRH Eze (Engr) Ndukwe and Ugoeze Debby Iko, Nnaka IV of Okon-Aku Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State.
