**Public Notice**
**Subject: Internal Issues and Controversy Regarding Electoral Committee Nomination**
Dear students community;
I wish to address recent internal concerns regarding the nomination of the Electoral Committee, specifically the actions taken by the Vice President. It has come to our attention that the Vice President has engaged in activities beyond her constitutional authority, including the nomination of the Electoral Committee.
We would like to clarify the following points:
1. **Constitutional Authority**: The Vice President does not possess the constitutional authority to nominate the Electoral Committee. This power is reserved exclusively for the President of the Association. CHAPTER.8 SEC 29 ITEM IV - V OF THE NAASS CONSTITUTION "iv. The national president shall inaugurate the verified and corrected
nominees
v. The national president reserves the right to appoint the
CHAIRMAN,SECRETARY and SCREENING OFFICER of
(NAASSIEC)"
2. **Notification Process**: The nomination in question has not been communicated to either the National officers, Secretary nor the Public Relations Officer for publication, which is a procedural lapse.as at the time of this publication the NAASS Officers has never received a copy of the said nomination.
3. **DSS Involvement**: It is important to note that the Department of State Services (DSS) does not have the constitutional authority to dictate the procedures for forming an Electoral Committee within our recognized students' body.
4. **Acting President Claims**: The Vice President's actions, including her claim of acting as President without convening a National Executive Council meeting, nor issuance of Press release cm communique lack legitimacy.
5. **Authority of the BOT and Congress**: The President retains the sole authority to nominate the Electoral Committee. Additionally, the Board of Trustees (BOT) is the highest decision-making body in resolving matters of the Association, SEC 13 ITEM III OF THE NAASS CONSTITUTION, aside from the Congress, which is the ultimate decision-making body.
I urge all members to remain informed and adhere to the constitutionally defined roles and procedures to ensure the integrity and smooth operation of our Association.
Sincerely,
Your's Gilbert Chinedum
Public Relations Officer
