Wanted b@nditry kingp!ns, including the notorious Alero and Kwashé Garwa (number 19 on Nigeria’s most-wanted terror!sts list), were seen at peace talks in Faskari LGA, Katsina State.
The meeting, held at Hayin Gada, brought together community leaders and bandit representatives. The groups reportedly agreed to:
✅ Halt att@cks on villages
✅ Allow farmers safe passage
✅ Release abducted persons
✅ Reopen markets for Fulani communities
Governor Dikko Radda acknowledged that negotiations are ongoing in several frontline LGAs, describing them as “locally-made, community-owned initiatives”.
🔴 But security analysts warn: previous peace deals in Katsina and Zamfara (2019–2021) collapsed, leading to more violence. Many residents say they still pay “taxes” to bandits despite these agreements.
With over 1.3 million displaced across the North-west (IOM report), the big question remains:
👉 Will these talks bring lasting peace or repeat past failures?
