During our primary school days, Pius and I committed an offense, and we were brought out to the assembly—in front of the headmaster, teachers, and other students—to be punished.

The headmaster said each of us would receive 50 strokes of the cane. But since it was his birthday that day, he showed us mercy and asked each of us to mention two things we wanted.

Pius said:
First, he wanted his strokes reduced from 50 to 10.
Second, he wanted a pillow tied to his back before the caning.

So a pillow was tied to his back, and he was given 10 strokes. He didn’t feel the pain because of the pillow tied behind him.

When they were done, the pillow was removed, and Pius went and sat aside. Then it was my turn. The headmaster told me to also state two things I wanted.

I looked back and said:
First, I wanted my strokes increased from 50 to 100.
The headmaster and other teachers were shocked. Meanwhile, Pius burst out laughing.

The headmaster asked me what my second request was. I said:

“TIE PIUS TO MY BACK BEFORE YOU CANE ME!”

I was coming to my friend’s place when I overheard a guy asking a girl to be his girlfriend on a phone call.

He was promising the girl heaven and earth if the girl accepts him. In his word “I promise to get you anything you want ones you accept me”.

I really thought that this line was ancient and old. I don’t know that people still uses it.

Well I just hope that when the girl finally accepts him; the boy won’t start complaining that the girl is over demanding.

We live in a time where love is often doubted. Many men believe there are no good women left. Many women feel the same about men. This mindset is everywhere, shaped by heartbreak, betrayal, and endless cycles of failed connections. And sadly, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

When someone genuine shows up, they’re often seen through the lens of past pain. The heart builds walls. Trust is withheld. And the one who might have been "the one" gets treated like just another disappointment.

Why does this happen? Why have we normalized the idea that all men or all women are the same? What is the root of this belief that love isn’t real anymore?

Maybe it's fear. Maybe it's trauma. Maybe it's the stories we’ve been told or the ones we've lived. But until we break this cycle, we’ll keep pushing away what we claim we’re searching for.

It's time we asked ourselves: Are we really ready for love or just protecting ourselves from being hurt again?

You fit dey ride am freely as a guy for other Cities or towns like Awka, Aba or Onitsha, but once you carry am enter Abakaliki any checkpoint wey you reach Pọlisi go search you 50 times. You go unlock your phone 20 times for them to see what l don't know. In fact if you waste their time na for back of Hilux you go see your bike. Na for station you go come explain yourself how you take buy the bike and bail out no be free o🤣🤣

For Abakaliki if you be young guy and you wear nice clothes, put ear rings and still come carry this bike, hahahah na you dey find trouble. If l carry big bike follow you dey go somewhere Pọlisi go stop you but dem no go stop me. The reason be say dem see guys wey dey ride this bike say na yah000 dem dey do and the thing don dey like say na tradition for Abakaliki. Anytime you see any checkpoint for town, check well you must see like four or five of this bike there. You must explain yourself. This bike don get agba(honor/respect) for Abakaliki.

Can we all agree that, Social media didn’t just ru!n dating, it ru!ned the society. It gave women delusional expectations and men impossible standards.

Now everyone’s unhappy, but nobody wants to admit it. That's what gave birth to people like GehGeh, saidaboj, Blessingceo and their likes.

Now women scroll through endless “options” but can’t hold down a good man.

Men grind for six-pack and six-figures, yet still feel invisible. Everyone is flexing, yet nobody is connecting. Everyone is chasing “likes,” nobody’s being loved.

The worse is that, we have traded commitment for flirt. loyalty for lust, reality for fantasy.

We now have a generation that has everything at their fingertips, but nothing in their hearts.

Social media didn’t just ruin dating. It manufactured loneliness and sold it back to us as “connection.”

A society add!cted to illusion will never know intimacy.
