STOPPING THE SILENT PANDEMIC: UN, FRSC, Didier Drogba Na JCDecaux unite for Road Safety in Nigeria.
At a high-level press conference in Black Diamond Hotel Victoria Island today 3rd October 2025, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed mni, The UN Secretary-Generalโs Special Envoy for Road Safety Mr Jean Todt, Football legend, Didier Drogba and Ms. Abimbola Gaga of JCDecaux, the worldโs leading outdoor advertising company acted as panelist to discuss the โsilent pandemicโ of road crashes and also launch the Campaign in Nigeria.
The event was moderated by FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide mni.
The Corps Marshal, in his welcome address, highlighted FRSCโs policy thrusts and efforts in line with the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety.
In his remarks, Jean Todt officially launched the Nigeria Campaign, noting:
โRoad safety is everyoneโs business every day. Small actions like wearing seatbelts, helmets, and driving safely save many lives.โ
He further revealed that by late 2026, the campaign will have been launched in 80 countries and nearly 1,000 cities worldwide.
Ms. Abimbola Gaga emphasized JCDecauxโs role in using sustainable media to raise awareness, while Didier Drogba applauded the involvement of global and national celebrities in inspiring safer road behavior.
Together, the UN, FRSC, Didier Drogba, JCDecaux, and global icons reaffirmed the call for collective action to save lives on Nigeriaโs roads.
