“My husband told me I was overreacting… but then I saw the photo.”
Today was my husband’s 35th birthday. I’m 30.
A lot of people posted photos and tributes to celebrate him.
Then I saw one post from one of his colleagues.
There were 10 photos.
Most of them were completely normal—photos of my husband at various outings and business trips.
But the sixth photo stopped me cold.
My husband was sitting on a boat, looking down and laughing, with a drink in his hand.
And across his lap were a woman’s legs.
Not just resting on his lap.
Completely draped across it.
One of his hands was holding his drink. His other hand was up in the air, presumably because he was mid-laugh.
So I had no idea where his hand had been resting.
Another coworker was tagged in the photo, so I assumed those were her legs.
I immediately called my husband.
I asked him where and when the photo was taken—and why a woman’s legs were across his lap like that.
His response?
“You need to relax.”
He told me I was making too big a deal out of it.
He said the picture was taken over the summer, at a time when I had been stuck in a different city because a coworker of mine tested positive on a business trip.
That was also why I hadn’t been invited to a party his other coworker had.
He said he never told me about the party because “I was already frustrated about being stuck in Montreal.”
Then he explained the photo.
According to him, his coworker only had her legs on him for a second.
He said he was laughing because a dog had just been on his lap and was jumping off.
And immediately afterward, he said he got up.
But now I’m confused.
He’s making me feel like I’m being completely ridiculous for not immediately believing him.
And somehow, that makes me wonder if he might actually be telling the truth.
So tell me honestly:
Was I overreacting?
Or would that photo make you question your husband too?
