Many years ago, when I was dating my husband, he asked me out on a cinema date, I told my mum about it and she said I shouldn't go, her reasons were that the cinema is a place where men lure girls to in order to abuse them(touch them inappropriately)... according to her ..going to the cinema with a man was not even an option.
By then, I had already finished my youth service and was job hunting.
I told her okay...I didn't argue.
When my boyfriend called me, I told him il meet up with him, I didn't tell him anything about my mums warning, I had to tell my mum I was going elsewhere and I left the house.
Before then, I had been dating my boyfriend for a year and I knew he was absolutely not capable of doing such because he fully respected me but I didn't have the strength to start convincing my mum that he was different because people tend to hold very tight to their stereotype mindsets and it's fine.
I'm someone who will allow you the freedom to have your mindset, I just won't let you impose your mindset on me.
I went for the cinema date with him and when we got to the cinema, he asked me what I wanted to watch and I selected a cartoon, he laughed so hard...he was like "who watches cartoons in a cinema"? and I said "me"😂🤣
Back then, i was very much a "love cartoon freak", I just loved cartoons especially those prince and princess cartoons.
We eventually got into the cinema and we watched the cartoon and we laughed all through, discussing and enjoying the moment.
After we stepped out from the cinema, I just smiled and I was happy I disobeyed 😁 he proved to be absolutely nothing like what my mum had imagined 😂
Today, we go to the cinema more frequently not only to watch a movie but to spend quiet time together, to laugh, gist and just enjoy the company of ourselves.
Even after 3 kids, we still make time to share beautiful cinema moments together.
Everyday, I'm grateful to GOD that I chose you, not because you are perfect but because sometimes I feel like you aren't even human.
Yesterday, I still would have chosen a cartoon but none was available 😂 we had to watch the Spiderman movie 😁 I'm glad that I have the full access to your heart and I can make you do things you wouldn't ordinarily do for anyone else 🥰❤️
