Soludo’s Primary Healthcare Revolution Earns Anambra Top Spot in South-East — Idemili North Chairman Applauds Progress

The Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area, Mr Stanly Nkwoka has commended the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for what he described as a transformative revolution in the State’s primary healthcare system, declaring Anambra the leading State in healthcare delivery across the South-East region of Nigeria.

Speaking during an assessment of ongoing healthcare initiatives in the council area, Mr Nkwoka noted that the aggressive implementation of the Primary Healthcare (PHC) upgrade scheme by the Soludo administration has significantly improved access to quality and affordable medical services, especially at the grassroots.

He emphasized that the comprehensive renovation, equipping, and staffing of primary healthcare centres across communities have not only reduced the burden on general hospitals but also brought essential health services closer to the people.

According to him, What we are witnessing today in Anambra is a deliberate and strategic investment in the health of our people. The revitalization of primary healthcare centres across the State is unmatched in the South-East. Governor Soludo has shown true leadership by prioritizing the wellbeing of Ndi Anambra.

The Mayor further highlighted that in Idemili North, several PHC centres have been upgraded to meet modern standards, with improved infrastructure, availability of essential drugs, and deployment of qualified healthcare personnel.

Residents in the area have also expressed satisfaction with the improvements, noting shorter waiting times, better service delivery, and increased confidence in public health facilities.

Health experts believe that the Soludo administration’s focus on strengthening primary healthcare aligns with global best practices, which recognize PHC as the foundation of an effective and sustainable healthcare system.

The Mayor called on other States in the region to emulate Anambra’s model, stressing that the achievements recorded so far are a testament to visionary governance and effective policy implementation.

As the State continues to consolidate on these gains, stakeholders remain optimistic that Anambra will not only sustain its leading position in the South-East but also emerge number one internationally.
