INEC Calls On Eligible Anambra Residents To Participate In The Ongoing Continuous Voters Registration, As It Records 4423 New Voters

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has called on eligible persons domiciled in Anambra State who have not registered yet or just reached the age of 18 years to come out 'en masse' and participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration CVR exercise simultaneously taking place across the 36 States of the country, excluding Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

This appeal was made by the Resident Electoral Commissioner REC Incharge of Anambra State, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu while addressing journalists during a press briefing on Wednesday at the INEC State headquarters in Awka.

Dr. Agwu disclosed that the Continuous Voters Registration exercise which has earlier commenced since 5th January 2026 ahead of the 2027 general election is expected to close on 17th April 2026.
She announced that the exercise is already ongoing in all the INEC offices across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State.

The REC revealed that so far a total of 4423 new voters has successfully enrolled through the ongoing CVR within approximately four weeks of the commencement of the exercise.
She expressed delight with the level of response and the current figures recorded so far in the State within this short period in review.

However, she urged 'ndi Anambra' to do more as she called on eligible Anambra Residents including the physically challenged who are not registered yet to troup out 'en masse' and participate in the registration exercise.
According to her, "this current Continuous Voters Registration CVR exercise is another golden opportunity for those individuals who missed the July 2025 CVR during the November 8 Anambra Governoship Election preparation in 2025 to register in locations they know they will be during elections to enable them vote in forthcoming elections.

The State REC further explained that apart from gaining the qualification to vote in any election, Voter's Card usually obtained after Voter Registration can equally serve as a valid means of identification for corporate or bank transactions.

Reacting on the issue of transfer of polling units by voters across the State, due to change of residential location or so, the REC encouraged the affected individuals to feel free and approach any INEC offices across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State including the INEC State headquarters Awka to get it done instantly.

Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu who stressed on the importance of strategic partnership in achievings corporate success, dreams and goals appealed to the media, various political parties, Traditional Rulers, President Generals and other community leaders to join hands with INEC in their current 2026 CVR campaign and sensitization efforts across the State so as to take the message to all nooks and crannies of the State in order to achieve a good result at the end of the exercise.

Acknowledging and confirming the fact that the Commission regulates and supervises political parties activities, the REC disclosed that so far the Commission is carrying all the political parties along in all it's activities and operations at all levels.
In her words, "the political parties are also well informed in an organized meetings on updates on current INEC activities".

Meanwhile, responding to questions on efforts of the Commission towards improved reliable quality service delivery, the Resident Electoral Commissioner maintained that INEC is not relenting in its efforts to do the best for Nigerians.
"technically, INEC has been advancing, harnessing local resources to beef up performance. So far our various technical teams have regularly undergone a lot of trainings both locally and internationally to ensure committed improvement in our operations" she noted.

"Happily during the recently conducted 2025 November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election, non of our BVAS machines deployed for that particular election malfunctioned, a clear message that the Commission's operational sevices has significantly improved" she added.

She further revealed that efforts are on the way to extend CVR operations to the campuses of higher institutions in Anambra State to enable the students have closer acess and participate fully in the execise.

Dr. Agwu applauded the good people of Anambra State for their conduct, commitments and supports to INEC during the recent successful 2025 November 8 Governorship Election in the State.
She expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation and commitments from Anambra people, political parties, politicians, security agencies, other stakehoders as well as INEC staff both ad-hoc and regular which led to the success of that very election.
In her words "this is the first time an election was done successfully and at the end of the exercise there was no re-run. This was because INEC conducted what many obsevers described as a transparent, credible, free and fair election. she asserted"

The Resident Electoral Commissioner finally assured Nigerians of the total commitments of INEC to live up to expectation in future elections, noting that with the improved technology INEC is currently operating with, election rigging is becoming very difficult.
She reiterated the resolve of INEC to ensure a successful smooth, obstacle-free 2026 Continuous Voters Registration CVR exercise and a credible, transparent free and fair election in future elections across the country.

The Presiding Archbishop of Jesus Is Alive Church Eziowelle in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, His Grace, Rt. Rev. Dr Onyekachukwu Joseph Nzekwesi has called on Nigerians to embrace Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour to enable them enjoy wellness and the presence of God Almighty on earth.

Speaking recently in an exclusive interview with AnambraVoice at Eziowelle during the Christmas season, the great servant of God explained that Christmas celebration reminds Christians of the wonderful thing that happened to the face of the earth which was the birth of Jesus Christ.

He prayed for Christians all over the world to continue enjoying divine wellness and the presence of God on Earth which was made available to mankind because of the coming of Jesus Christ.

Reacting on the influence of social media on youths with regards to seeking the face of the Lord, he maintained that the majority of the youths in the country are very active in Christ,
And explained that while some youths are being confused by some of the social media contents, some are also being clarified.
Acording to him, "the youths who have abandoned their faith in Christ are very little compared with the ones in Christ". "The social media is playing it's role through it's numerous platforms" he added.

He advised the youths to use the social media wisely and navigate through platforms and contents that will boost their knowledge, faith, trust and growth in the Lord.

He further reminded the youths of the vital need to worship and serve the Lord with their youthful strength so that they will dwell in Wellness and enjoy the blessings, protection and other benefits from the presence of God on earth.

Archbishop Nzekwesi who maintained that without Christ the world wouldn't have been a beautiful place encouraged Nigerians to join and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the One that brought grace. love, truth, favour, protection and abundant life unconditionally to mankind.

In clear terms the popular servant of God disclosed that the presence of God on earth is exceedingly, exceptionally and monumentally wonderful.

The Stage is set, the atmosphere is already charged, today Friday the 9th day of January 2026 history will be made as the Oba community will witness the coronation and the first Ofala festival of their new traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Igwe (Engr.) Augustine Emelobe.

The Cordinating Chairman of the Coronation and Ofala Planning Committtee, Chief (Sir) Ekene Ebuzeme made this known last night while addressing some journalists at the Merchant of Light School Field venue of the Ofala event.

Chief Ebuzeme said the community is ready to host their guests from different parts and outside the country.
According to him all the logistics that are required for the success of the event has already been put in place.

"A sound strong security network among other things has been successfully put in place to ensure a hedge free cultural event" he added.

He maintained that the ocassion will be historic and highly entertaining and invited all the friends and well wishers of Oba community to grace the ocassion and celebrate the goodness and blessngs of God to their community with them.

The new Traditional Ruler of Oba community in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, His Royal Majesty, Igwe (Engr.) Augustine Emelobe has declared his readiness for his forthcoming first 'Ofala Cultural Festival" schedule to take place on Friday the 9th day of January 2026 in Oba.

While making the declaration in an exclusive interview with AnambraVoice during a cultural event in Enugwu-ukwu community of Anambra State on Saturday, the Oba mornach disclosed that a lot of cultural packages has been lined up to make the day memorable, thrilling and highly entertaining.

He added that the good people of Oba town are well known in Igbo land with their hospitality, accomodative and peaceful nature.
In his words "every sons and daughters of Oba community is fully prepared to participate in this great historic cultural event in Oba land".

The new Mornach assured all their invitees and guests for the event as well as the entire Oba community members, friends and well wishers of the town of a memorable, historic Ofala cultural festival.

Igwe Emelobe who further revealed that Oba community is blessed with rich cultural heritage said the event will be a colourful one.
It should be recalled that Igwe Emelobe was recently crowned the King and the 'Ezeokpoko II of Oba' by the entire members of Oba community.

Explaining further, he highlighted some of the events that will take place at the ocassion to include official conferment of chieftaincy titles to indigents as well as friends of the town, honouring and recognition of village chiefs and illustrious sons and daughters of Oba who in one way or the other has contributed greatly in the development of Oba town, cultural displays, cultural dance from different groups, masquerades, brief insight on the history of Oba community, paying of homage to the king by each villages, presentation of gifts among other things.

Igwe Augustine Emelobe used the opportunity to thank all the members of his community for the sustained peaceful coexistence in the town and their unalloyed supports to his leadership since his ascension on the throne as the Traditional Ruler of Oba kingdom.

He appreciated the illustrious sons and daughters of Oba who has committedly contributed in the funding of the forthcoming Ofala festival and prayed to God to bless them abundantly.
He also prayed to God to keep on protecting, prospering and uplifting members of the community.

Paul-Francis Nzekwesi Extols Igwe Okonkwo-Etusi, Prayed For His Continuous Good Health and Long Life

One of the Directors of the Pineleaf Real Estate and Properties Nigeria Limited, High Chief Chukwugozie Paul-Francis Nzekwesi has extolled the traditional ruler of Eziowelle community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Okonkwo-Etusi.

Exchanging views with the mornach when he paid homage to him in his palace at Eziowelle during a cultural event recently, Chief Nzekwesi commended the efforts of the traditional ruler in sustaining the progress, peace and unity the community is enjoying since his reign on the Throne as the traditional ruler of Eziowelle kingdom.

He further expressed his conviction and satisfaction with the commitments of Igwe Okonkwo-Etusi and his cabinet chiefs in taking the Eziowelle community to a greater height.

Chief Chukwugozie Paul-Francis Nzekwesi who is also popularly known with his traditional title of "Oranwezueaku 1 of Eziowelle" described traditional leadership among communities as a grassroot leadership structure that should always be strengthened by the government at all levels and other stakeholders too.

He called on the good people of the town to sustain their supports for Igwe Okonkwo-Etusi traditional leadership.

Chief Oranwezueaku later presented a cash gift to the traditional ruler and prayed to God to bless him with a continuous good health, more wisdom and longer life as he pilots the affairs of Eziowelle community.

Early, while welcoming Chief Chukwugozie Nzekwesi and his entourage, Igwe Okonkwo-Etusi thanked him for the courtesy visit and prayed to God to continue enlarging his coast and bless him abundantly in all his life endeavours.

A community leader and a Philanthropist Per Excellence, High Chief Jim Martins Nwabueze the traditional title holder of Ichie Akubudike of Umudioka Kingdom has congratulated the winner and the Governor-Elect of the November 8 Governorship Election in Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

Speaking recently while hosting a cross section of Anambra people and other guests from within and outside the State in his country home, Umudioka in a brief ceremony to celebrate Soludo's victory at the poll and the peaceful, free and fair nature of the election exercise, High Chief Nwabueze described the Soludo's success as a victory well deserved considering his anticidents in the State.

He noted that Governor Soludo's numerous leadership achievements truly led to the massive votes he got from 'ndi Anambra' during the election exercise. He stated that Governor Suludo's giant infrastructural development efforts particularly in the area of road rehabilitation, reconstruction and construction across the State, improvement of security of lives and properties of the inhabitants of the State, youths empowerment through skill acquisation and financial take off grants, achievements in the education, agriculture and health sectors among other feats has gone a long way to lift Anambra higher and bring the socio-economic growth of the State to reality.

Ichie Akubudike who is also a member of the Umudioka community Traditional Ruling Council also extended his hand of fellowship to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for successfully conducting what he described as a peaceful, free, fair credible Governorship election in Anambra State and urged them not to relent in this giant effort.

He thanked the good people of Anambra State for their commitments and peaceful conduct throughout the time of the election process.

Chief Nwabueze further expressd satisfaction with the conduct of the various political party Governorship Candidates who participated in the execise and their party members too, maintained that the election success is total victory for 'ndi Anambra'.

Considering the free and fair credible nature of the election he stressed that there is no need for any legal tussle over the outcome of the election, saying that 'ndi Anambra' has spoken their minds through the exercise and advised the respective party's candidates to rally round the winner of the election Professor Soludo with their supports to move Anambra to a greater height.

Chief Jim Martins Nwabueze (Ichie Akubudike of Umudioka) is one of the highly recognised and respected philantropists and illustrous sons of Anambra extraction.
He is the founder and the President of Akubudike Foundation, a non-governmental, non profit organization that has been positively touching the lives of the less privileged in the society.
Through this initiative, Akubudike has economically empowered so many youths, widows, widowers, and other less privileged in our society.
This he has achieved through disbursement of scholarship funds to indigent students, sponsorship of skill acquisition trainings and subsiquent payment of start up grants for the youths and the unemployed after training, financial empowerment of successful trading trainees, sponsorship of periodic free medical outreach, payment of hospital bills of those less privileged trapped in hospitals due to inability to pay their hospital bills among other assistance.

On his part the monarch of Abacha community, His Royal Highness, Igwe Godwin Odiegwu (Ezedioramma of Abacha community) who was also at the event expressed joy at the outcome of the election, congratulated Governor Soludo on his voctory at the poll and extolled him for his developmental strides and the uncommon transformation of all sectors his leadership is doing in Anambra State.

He commended the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan for the success his Commission recorded during and after the election.

Highlights of the occasion, were cultural dance and displays by some cultural groups, entertainment of the guests with assorted delicacies, drinks and musical interludes.
