All the airlines in the world only ask you to turn your phone to flight mode. Flight mode is built for flight. Nobody tells you to switch your phone off.

I have flown from Abuja to Istanbul, Istanbul to Seattle, Seattle to Los Angeles, Seattle to France, France to Lagos, Lagos to the Netherlands, the Netherlands to Seattle. I have flown interstates within America, and nobody ever told me to switch my phone. Na Flight mode. After taking off, you turn on your WIFI and cruise browsing. Nobody even check whether your phone is on flight mode or not. Anyone trying to get hold of your phone is invading your privacy. It's a terrible offence anywhere in the world except Bongo.

However, in Bongo, airlines command you to switch your phone off. If you put it on airplane mode, overzealous seat-mate will overreach, crosses boundary to seize your phone.

You want cause them plane crash? Some air hostess will come seize your phone.
