DG Tuggar Foundation urges citizens to participate in the ongoing voter registration

The Director General (DG) Tuggar Foundation, Honourable Uba Ahmed Nana has enjoined Nigerians, especially the people of Bauchi state to participate in continues voter registration currently going on across the country.
Hon Nana who is a former chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in (Bauchi) made this known in a press statement on Monday.
The ex-Bauchi APC chairman further explained that by registering and acquiring of the permanent voters card, the citizens would be eligible to vote the leaders of their choices come 2027 and even beyond.
Hon Nana, a politician and also academia gave 10 reasons why Nigerians should be encouraged to obtain their permanent voters card as part of obligation to their civic responsibility, urging Bauchi people to ensure their names is in voters register of their polling units.
According to him, when registered, the citizens would have the right to participate in democracy, by empowering them exercise their constitutional right to vote and be voted for.
He said by obtaining the PVCs, it gives the citizens the opportunity to influence leadership choices because PVC is the only tool through which citizens can help elect credible leaders who will represent their interests.
Hon Nana further noted that, with PVC, citizens can vote out non-performing leaders and support candidates who are responsive to the needs of the people, adding that possession of PVCs shapes the future of Nigeria, as it enable citizens play an active role in deciding policies that will affect education, healthcare, security, and economic development across the nation.
The DG Tuggar Foundation also said, possession of PVCs prevent a situation where a citizen can be disenfranchised and deterred from voting candidates that can perform better in leadership position.
"Registering now ensures no one is left out of the process. It strengthen the electoral system. The more citizens register and vote, the stronger democracy becomes", he said.
Hon Nana said obtaining PVCs encourages high voter turnout, which makes elections more credible and reduces the chance of manipulation.
He said, by registering, the system will ensure youth and women inclusion who forms a significant part of Nigeria’s population.
"Registering ensures their voices are not ignored in decision-making and governance", the former party chairman said.
He stressed that having PVC enable the citizens to ask for change of leadership in a peaceful way by exercising their civic duty, and also demand demand good governance instead of resorting to protests or violence.
Hon Uba Nana said, the need to register for voters card ensures local government representation, explaining that, beyond gubernatorial and presidential elections, a PVC allows citizens to elect competent leaders at the local government level who directly impact grassroots development.
He maintained that registering and voting sets are a positive example for younger generations, which shows that citizens value democracy and are willing to build a better Nigeria.
Uba Nana said by registering, the good people of Bauchi would be eligible to participate in all elections including the local Government elections.
He therefore, called on APC members to make sure their children, both male and female who have reached the age of 18 years are not left out in the voter registration process at the nearest polling station within their community area.
