National Assembly Committee on NG-CARES-CSDA host Retreat in Katsina

*Ivie Idahosa reiterate commitment of Edo CSDA to building stronger communities

A retreat aimed at sustaining the NG-CARES Programme through stronger policies and legislation has been hosted in Katsina, courtesy of the National Assembly Committee on NG-CARES-CSDA.

The programme which centered on discussions on community resilience, social protection and economic recovery was attended by various state Community and Social Development Agencies including Edo State led by the General Manager, Ms Ivie Idahosa.

Edo CSDA since the appointment of Ms Ivie Idahosa as General Manager by His Excellency, Sen Monday Okpebholo in February this year, has remain committed to empowering communities and driving inclusive growth across Edo state.

Several communities have benefitted from the agencies impact projects in line with the state government's policy for growth and sustainability of democratic dividends.

Some notable projects which includes OWUO/CSDA water scheme project, Oguola-Dawson electricity project, capacity-building training for Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) from ten communities in the state and many others, has raised the hope of the people in governance.

This is a reflection of the inclusive development strides Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration.

Edo State International Mining Summit; Stakeholders brainstorm on way forward

** Hon Andrew Ijegbai urge Committee to be proactive in achieving result

Stakeholders of the forthcoming Edo State International Mining Summit scheduled to hold on 24th and 25th October 2025 at Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Benin City, converged at the conference hall of the Ministry of Mining, Edo State to chart the way forward and firm up preparations for a hitch free summit.

The enlarged meeting which had in attendance Officials of the Ministry of Mining who are the organisers of the programme, Resource persons, members of Edo State Mining association, representatives of financial institutions including Zenith, Keystone, Polaris, Premium Trust and the media, was strategic as various issues bordering of committee involvement, logistics, exhibition and planning were addressed.

Addressing stakeholders at the meeting, the Honourable Commissioner for Mining, Oil and Gas, Hon Andrew Ijegbai reiterated the need for the committee to strategize effectively while upholding trust and dedication in order to achieve a successful Summit. He charged the various committees to show commitment with a view to meeting up with time. He assured them of the Ministry of Mining assistance in curbing bottlenecks and challenges that may arise in the course of preparations.

Edo State CSDA, Impacting Edo People through Community Projects

The appointment of Ms Ivie Idahosa as General Manager, Edo State Community and Social Development Agency by His Excellency, Sen Monday Okpebholo has re-enforced the community social development initiative of Edo State government through impactful projects that meets the demands and yearnings of the people across communities.

Upon assumption of office in February 2025, Ms Ivie Idahosa immediately set out templates to engender projects within Edo communities in line with Senator Monday Okpebholo's urban-rural renewal drive to give the people a sense of belonging as shared partners in Edo project.

Recently, residents of OWUO community, one of the benefiting communities in the water scheme project who had been waiting since 2019 were in a jubilant mood at the commencement of Drilling in OWUO/CSDA water scheme project being embarked upon by the agency. This among other projects have championed inclusive development strides, a cardinal objective of the Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration.

Senator-elect Edo Central Senatorial by-election promises to prioritize legislation and intervention

Senator-elect of the August 16th Edo Central Senatorial by-election
Hon Dr. Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pledged to serve with vision, transparency, and an unwavering focus on development.

Speaking shortly after being declared winner by INEC at Ubiaja with a whooping 105,129 votes over Joe Okojie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 15,146 votes, Dr Joseph Ikpea appreciated the people for their support, resilience and belief in his capacity and the APC to deliver effective representation in Edo Central Senatorial district.

"This victory reaffirms the people’s faith in our capacity to deliver. I will not disappoint them. I will work hand in hand with our governor, our party, and community leaders to ensure that every part of Edo Central feels the impact of quality representation.”

He noted that the victory is an expression of the people's trust in Governor Monday Okpebholo and the APC’s developmental agenda for Edo State, describing the State Governor as "a leader of exceptional qualities, strategic, selfless, and deeply connected to the people".

Forward Operating Base Nigeria Army Ehor Commissioned to Beef up Security along Benin/Auchi Road

** Obaseki Reaffirms Edo state government's commitment to security of citizens

** Uhunmwode Council Chairman commends FOB Ehor for security coverage

In realization of Edo State government's commitment to ensuring the security of citizens of the State, the Forward Operating Base Nigeria Army Ehor, built by Edo State government has been Commissioned and handed over to the Nigeria Army.

Governor Godwin Obaseki in his speech said that the military base was built to provide backup security along the Benin/Auch expressway. He commended the Nigeria Army for the support since the commencement of the base in 2022. He said that another Forward Operating Base is being built in Sobe to reduce the incidence of kidnapping along the axis. He appealed to the Nigeria Army for approval to build a base in Akoko Edo.

The Military base was commissioned by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General T. Lagbaja represented by Major General Obinna Godwin Onubogu, General Officer Commander 2 Brigade of the Nigeria Army under the watchful eyes of the Commander 4 Brigade Nigeria Army, Brigadier General E.O. Oduyebo and other officers of the Nigeria Army formations.

In an interview with newsmen, Hon Adodo Kenneth Osarobo, the council Chairman commended the Forward Operating Base Ehor, for security coverage of the local government area and sued for more cooperation with the Army in combating the activities of criminals within the area.

Dignitaries at the ceremony include the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Marvelous Godwin Omobayo, Serving Commissioners, Member representing Uhunmwode Constituency at Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Kaycee Osamwonyi, Deputy PDP Deputy National Youth Leader, Hon Tim Osadolo, Hon Richard Edebiri, Vice Chairman, Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Hon Bright Egharevba, Councillors, Supervisors, women groups and party faithfuls.
