Edo guber: residents eye victory for Asue Ighodalo, as Supreme Court fixes judgement for July 10
By Gidigba Group
Edos at home and in the diaspora hopes that the Supreme Court will declare PDP/Asue-Ogie lawful winner of the September 21 Edo governorship election.
Asue Ighodalo had approached the tribunal to seek redress after the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, declared APC's Monday Okpebholo winner of the poll amidst wide controversies.
Although sworn-in after declaration, Okpebholo has had tough times struggling to legitimize his governorship—observers says the governor sits majestically on a stolen mandate.
Last week, Wednesday precisely, Supreme Court heard the matter, reserving judgement to a date to be communicated to parties; although many had thought the Supreme Court would give ruling same day—that was not the case, however.
News of July 10 for Supreme Court's judgement, marking the end of a long-drawn legal fireworks, has generated widespread reactions across Edo State and beyond, with many believing that the Honourable Supreme Court, will in its character of careful consideration of cases, detailed analysis of evidence, and thorough examination of legal arguments, exercise courage, wisdom and dispassion, to unearth and declare victorious, the lawful winner of the election.
