HOW TO HANDLE YOUR PERSONAL PROPHET
One of the great mysteries of life is that your next level of elevation, promotion, and greatness is often wrapped in strategic encounters with specific people God places on your path. These encounters are never accidental but are divine appointments meant to unlock destiny.
Among the most important of such encounters is with a genuine prophet.
A prophet is God’s spokesman, an instrument through whom the mind and intent of God are decoded, explained, and manifested for the benefit of humanity. Your personal prophet is not just any prophet; he is one God has specifically sent into your life, whose ministry you have tested and judged as authentic, and whose words you value and hold dear and have developed a personal relationship with.
Your personal prophet carries a divine responsibility to project the Lord Jesus Christ and help you build a deeper, more solid relationship with Him. The prophet is not meant to replace your walk with God but to guide, interpret, and confirm God’s will concerning your destiny.
One of the greatest lessons in Scripture is that encounters with prophets often demand a significant response from those who receive them. There is always a prophetic act, a step of honour, obedience, or sacrifice, that draws the hand of divinity into your life through prophetic relationship.
The woman of Shunem discerned that Elisha was a holy man of God. Beyond feeding him, she built him a chamber. Out of that act of significance, she received a miracle, a son in her old age (2 Kings 4:8–17).
The widow of Zarephath, in a season of famine, gave her last meal to the prophet Elijah. That single act opened a supernatural supply, and she and her household ate for many days (1 Kings 17:8–16).
Peter the fisherman, when Jesus, the Prophet of prophets, met him, gave Him his boat to preach from. In return, Peter received a net-breaking, boat-sinking harvest of fish (Luke 5:1–7).
These examples reveal a consistent truth: when God sends you a personal prophet, you must learn to discern what significant thing you can do. Honouring, serving, and supporting your prophet is not merely an act of generosity; it is a prophetic principle that unlocks divine favour, supernatural provision, and destiny fulfilment.
However, you also bear the responsibility of judging your prophet (1 Corinthians 14:29). Not every voice that claims to be from God is genuine. A personal prophet must be tested by his fruit, his doctrine, and the alignment of his ministry with the Word of God and the Spirit of Christ. Only then should you commit to receiving and honouring him as God’s vessel in your life.
Do you have a personal prophet, and how is your relationship with him?
