FACTS: DUALIZATION OF LOKOJA - BENIN ROAD: OBAJANA JUNCTION - BENIN SECTION II: OKENE -AUCHI, IN KOGI -EDO STATES

In February 2025 The Federal Government started work on expanding the Ajaokuta-Okene-Auchi-Ekpoma-Benin Road into a dual carriageway. This was after the previous contract was cancelled and given to new contractors same last year due to poor performance.

Minister of Works David Umahi led the project’s launch and explained its history. He shared that President Bola Tinubu ordered a permanent fix for the road using special concrete technology (called Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement) that should last between 50 and 100 years.

The road has been causing major problems for travellers due to its poor condition and heavy traffic. The project had been delayed for a long time, affecting many road users. When Umahi took office, he visited the site and met with the previous contractors, but saw no improvements.

After reporting these issues to President Tinubu, Umahi was ordered to find an immediate and lasting solution. This led to the cancellation of contracts for three out of the four sections of the road.

The road project is divided into four sections, with three sections running through Edo State. Section II runs from Okene to Auchi and is 63.70 kilometres long.
Section III stretches from Auchi to Ehor, covering 54.224 kilometres, while Section IV extends from Ehor to Benin for 67.9 kilometres. The first section, from Obajana Junction to Ajaokuta Junction, is currently being constructed by CGC Nigeria Ltd., who also handles Section II.
BUA Construction Nigeria Ltd. Is building Section III, and CBC Nigeria Ltd is also constructing Section IV.

BOLA AHMED TINUBU HAS IMPROVED THE CONDITION OF CALABAR-ITU- IKOT EKPENE ROAD

Contrary to reports by some attention seekers, That the Calabar-itu-Ikot Ekpene- Road is still in a dilapidated state
Pictures attached portray a different reality as the level of improvement of work on the calabar Itu Road During president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s regime has become the talk of residents and motorist who have continued to rain praises on the President and the Minister of works ENGR David Umahi for the Urgent rehabilitation experienced on the road that was once a death Trap.

Though some sections are still being worked on, with contractors working night and Day to make sure that the Road becomes a testament of the renewed hope agenda.

Journey that could take 2 Days before now to reach because of road blockage are now a less Than 2 hour Journey

The Road which is supposed to be widely dualised when completed has one Section already completed from Odukpani Junction to Itu Bridge , While other sections are still worked on.

*Subject:* Inspection of ongoing Construction of dual carriageway, Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

*Project:* Construction of a dual carriageway, Eket Bypass as addendum to East West Road Section IV Eket-Oron Road project

*Project Size:* 9.7km

*Client:* Federal Ministry Of Works

*Field Supervisor:* Ima Akpan

On Wednesday, 14th January 2026, the Akwa Ibom State Field Supervisor, Ima Akpan joined the Team from Federal Ministry of Works, Akwa Ibom State for an On-site monitoring and inspection visit to the construction site on the Eket-Oron portion of the East-West Road Project.

Physical inspection and tour around all the diverse lengths and parts of the road were carried out to ascertain safety and durability.

According to the State Controller, "the road project is showing good progress despite the challenging terrain and the rainy nature of the zone. The contractor is handling the swampy sections with adequate sand fill. Earthworks, subgrade, subbase, stone base, concrete drains, culverts and flyover construction are ongoing, with proper safety measures in place".

The Contractor, represented by the company's GM, Atul Mishra expressed accountability and promised quality and timely delivery of the critical project.

During the visit, some residents and key stakeholders of the community such as the youth leaders and village heads were engaged, and they appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration for paying detailed attention to the infrastructure needs of the Niger Delta region and their community in showing commitment to complete this long standing project of decades.

With the progress of this road, the Niger Delta region and Akwa Ibom State is experiencing not just a Promise Made but one Kept by a proactive FG administration and ministry of works diligently supervised by Engr. David Umahi.

The Nigerian Federal Government, through the Ministry of Works, officially flagged off the construction of a major 17.55 km dual carriageway access road (Phase 2A) to the Second Niger Bridge in Asaba in March 2025, aiming to connect the South-South and South-East regions, ease traffic from the bridge, and boost trade by linking major highways like Asaba-Benin and Onitsha-Enugu. THE BODO BONNY ROAD- A symbol of South South Rapid Development and Growth under President TINUBU

Before now; The stress of going to Bonny Island often involved the logistics of travel (bumpy boat rides, potentially crowded ferries, or the new road's challenging terrain), navigating island life (potential for limited amenities like clean water, high heat, humidity), managing costs/shopping with boat transport, and the general challenges of island living,

President TINUBU is fixing every part of Nigeria at the same time; Take a look at the Ndibe Beach Bridge

Did you know that Those in Cross River state will soon be able to access to the East through Ebonyi with the construction of the Ndibe Beach Bridge

This bridge is part of the Renewed Hope mega projects and will stands out as one of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emerging legacy achievements. The work here is more than concrete and steel. It is a direct pathway linking people, easing movement and opening doors for trade, tourism and investment.

From Ebonyi, the bridge connects Ndibe in Afikpo Local Government straight into Itigidi in Abi LGA of Cross River State. From there, the route flows into Ugep, Biase and onward to Calabar through the Ugep–Calabar highway. What used to feel like a long, impossible journey will become a smooth, reliable corridor. No more canoe means of transportation.

And this is only the beginning. The Ndibe link forms one of the critical gateways into the larger Cross River–Ebonyi–Benue–Kogi–Nasarawa–Abuja super highway, a massive network that will cut travel time from about 10 hours to 4 hours, boost regional commerce and bring communities closer than ever.
