POTA PHC REPORT: We are not COMPROMISED and here is evidence - Badagry Today
Our attention has been drawn to some misinformation and misinterpretations surrounding our recent report on the dilapidated state of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Pota, Badagry Local Government. It is deeply unfortunate that a well-meaning, apolitical piece has been branded as politically motivated.
To those who alleged that Badagry Today was compromised for waiting until the 11th hour of Hon. Onilude Segun Adeniran's administration before exposing the Pota PHC mess, the photo below clearly shows the date a concerned citizenβwhose identity we are obliged to protectβsent us the images of the deplorable state of the Pota Primary Health Centre.
Our report on the Pota PHC was ready on the same day the concerned resident sent it to us, but we deliberately delayed its publication until after the Lagos State Local Government elections, which were held on the 12th, so that no one would claim our report was politically motivated or intentionally aimed at damaging a particular partyβs electoral prospects.
Therefore, claiming our report was politically motivated is nothing but mischievous. Badagry Today has nothing against anyone and will continue to report without bias. On our platforms, we have published several reports highlighting the good works of the Onilude-led administration. When, then, did he suddenly become an enemy?
We wish to make it clear that our report was not targeted at any individual or inspired by any political ambition β now or towards 2027. The sole purpose of the report was to draw the attention of relevant authorities, especially the Lagos State Government and the Badagry Local Government, to the alarming condition of a health facility meant to serve the people.
Our report specifically called out all responsible stakeholders β from the state governor to the local government chairman and other political officeholders in the Badagry axis β for allowing such a critical health facility to fall into that level of disrepair. The only person expressly exonerated in the report was Hon. Yahaya Lateef.
To suggest that the report was targeted at a particular individual is not only misleading but also distracts from the urgent issue at hand β the health and well-being of our people. It is common knowledge that primary healthcare is primarily the responsibility of local government authorities, and they must accept a fair share of the blame. However, our intention was never to use the situation for cheap political shots, as some have suggested.
At Badagry Today, we pride ourselves on maintaining an apolitical stance in our reporting. We are not influenced or controlled by any political party or individual. Our goal has always been to tell the truth, serve the public, and highlight areas where leadership can do better.
That said, we acknowledge that we are not perfect. Like any media platform, we are capable of making mistakes, and when we do, we take full responsibility. Any errors in our report are deeply regretted, and we are committed to improving our standards going forward.
Thank you.
