Celestial Church of Christ leadership declares support, urge members nationwide to obtain PVCs and back SMA Gold
The Celestial Church of Christ has officially declared its interest in the 2027 Lagos State governorship race, endorsing Dr. Samuel Mauyon Ajose (SMA Gold) as its preferred candidate during a well-attended press conference held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the church’s National Headquarters in Makoko, Yaba, Lagos.
The endorsement, described as both spiritual and strategic, was conveyed in an address by Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Friday Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head of Celestial Church of Christ worldwide. The address was delivered on his behalf by the Head of Media, Assistant Venerable Superior Evangelist Kayode Ajala, MPIC.
In the statement, the revered church leader affirmed his longstanding knowledge of Dr. Samuel Mauyon Ajose, highlighting his heritage and spiritual lineage as the first son of the late Most Superior Evangelist Abraham Ajose, JP, a respected figure and international representative of the church during his lifetime.
“Dr. Samuel Mauyon Ajose is well known to me,” the statement read, emphasizing his commitment to faith, leadership, and service. His unwavering loyalty toPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu and alignment with the ideals of the All Progressives Congress were also underscored as key attributes that position him for leadership.
The church further noted that Dr. Ajose combines strong grassroots appeal with boardroom influence, extending his impact beyond his Badagry roots into broader political and socio-economic spaces.
In a significant move, the Pastor announced plans to formally communicate with regional and international church leadership, encouraging members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and collectively support Dr. Samuel Mauyon Ajose in the 2027 Lagos gubernatorial election.
Responding to questions from members of the press, Dr. Samuel Ajose expressed confidence in his emergence, framing his ambition within a divine and strategic context.
According to him, Badagry has not been sidelined in Lagos politics but preserved for a defining moment. He described himself as “an unusual person,” whose emergence and eventual leadership would unfold in extraordinary ways, guided by divine purpose.
He further highlighted the contributions of his foundation in supporting the APC and the broader political vision associated with the current administration, assuring that more impactful initiatives would follow upon securing the party’s ticket.
Dr. Ajose also pledged to promote religious harmony across Lagos State, emphasizing peaceful coexistence among Christians, Muslims, and traditional worshippers.
Reinforcing its stance, the church pledged continued spiritual support through prayers, while also committing to mobilize its members nationwide to actively participate in the electoral process by voting for the APC and its endorsed candidate.
The conference drew prominent figures within the church, including Most Superior Evangelist Olusegun Olarinde, JP, International Pastor's Representative, Assistant Most Superior Evangelist J. Kuti, Assistant Most Superior Evangelist Afis Kiki, Shepherd-in-Charge, National Headquarters, Makoko, Assistant Most Superior Evangelist Olusiji Olajide, Secretary General, C. C. C. Clergy worldwide, Senior Evangelist Sunday Oluwafemi Sofowora, and Assistant Venerable Superior Evangelist A. B. Demuren, as well as Superior Evangelist Solomon Oshoffa and several other clergy members. Also present was Louis Gabriel Whenayon, Editor-in-Chief of Celestial Eye Magazine, alongside a wide representation of church members, including men, women, and youths.
