ALONE WITH JESUS:
THE CROSS OF CHRIST: A CURSE?

BIBLE TEXT

_Galatians 3:13_
_"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us..."_

INTRODUCTORY INSIGHT

To the world, the Cross looked like a shame.
To the Romans, it was a curse.
To the disciples, it looked like the end.

But to God, the cross was the plan from the foundation of the world.

Jesus took what was meant to curse us...
And turned it into what blesses us rather.

He took:
1. Our shame - and gave us honour
2. Our sickness - and gave us healing
3. Our sin - and gave us righteousness
4. Our curse - and gave us the blessing of Abraham

The Cross didn't defeat Jesus. No! Never!!
Jesus defeated the curse _on_ the cross for the sake of you and I and the whole wide world.

What looked like defeat became victory!
What looked like death became life!
What looked like a curse... became our greatest blessing!

Consider this:

The Medicine That Tastes Bitter

A little boy was very sick.
The doctor gave him medicine. But the medicine was so bitter.

The boy cried, _“Daddy, this will kill me! It’s too bitter!”_

But the father said, _“Son, this bitter medicine is what will make you well. If you don’t take it, the sickness will.”_

The boy trusted his father, drank it, and got healed.

That’s the Cross!
It looked and tasted bitter. It looked like a curse.
But it was God’s medicine for the sake of humanity. It was God's antidote the problem of sin. It was God's grand plan and design to solve the debilitating effect of sin. God who understood the deep-rooted damages sin had caused through man's disobedience to His moral decalogue had instituted what is mete for the danger posed by sin: Separation from Infinite Nature. Man must be restored back to the communion with His Maker and only a cruel Old Rugged Cross on a hill of Calvary can atime for this as a symbol reconciliation between Divinity and humanity! Hallelujah!!!

Jesus drank the bitterness of the curse...
So that we could drink the sweetness of God’s blessing.

The Cross of Christ is not a curse to you.
It is your cure. It's a healing balm. It's a restorer of life in death. It's a hope of the hopeless and the joy of the dying world! A life out of a perishing situation and a light in the darkest part of the world.

PRAYER & RESTORATION

The I AM THAT I AM, the Father of light and the King of kings. Our Redeemer and Friend and our God never failing. We bless Your Holy Name!
Lord Jesus, thank You for becoming a curse for me.
Thank You that the Cross didn’t end with shame, it ended in victory. It ended in praises and honour. It ended in defeat of the arch enemy, Satan. Be glorified O Lord!
Help me to boast only in the Cross.
Let every curse in my life be broken by Your finished work on the Cross of Calvary. Heal every sin-sick soul.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

REFLECT & MEDITATE

What area of your life still feels “cursed”?
Can you bring it to the Cross today and exchange it for Christ’s blessing and a crown?

DECLARATION

_I am redeemed from every curse. The Cross of Christ is my blessing._

Like a rugged Cross on a hill with storm clouds turning into sunlight, so is Christ death on the Cross has become a blessing rather than a curse.

The Cross of Christ in Calvary was primed to be a curse because whoever hangs on a tree is cursed by the Romans estimation but God turned it to a blessing and a hope that continues to marvel and inspire the world generations after generations till today and forever!

_Galatians 6:14_
_"But far be it from me to boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."_

INTRODUCTORY INSIGHT

We usually run from the Cross.
We pray _“Lord, remove this burden.”_
We see it as pain, shame, delay, cruelty and suffering.

But God sees the Cross as a blessing in disguise. A blessing worth dying for. A grace unfathomable!

The Cross is where:
1. Pride dies - so humility can grow in every facet.
2. Self breaks - so Christ can live in you and through you!
3. Purpose is born - because God never wastes a wound!
4. Hardened hearts are melted - so we can be remolded and be useful for Divine assignments.

Dearly beloved, what feels like a weight today might be the very thing God is using to lift you tomorrow.
The Cross doesn't destroy you. It refines you, remodels you, refashions you, remakes you, resurrects you, restructures you, rebuilds you, reconnects you and restores you back to God's glory!

Paul could boast in the Cross because he understood that:

Without the cross, there’s no resurrection.

Without the breaking, there’s no rebuilding to position for blessings.

Without the restoration, there's no glorification!

ILLUSTRATING STORY

The Farmer and the Seed

There was a farmer who planted maize.
Before the seeds could grow, he had to bury them deep in the ground.
The seeds cried out, _“Why are you covering us with dirt? It’s dark. It’s heavy. It hurts!”_

But the farmer knew something the seeds didn’t:
That pressure and darkness was not to destroy them.
It was to break them open so they could grow.

Weeks later, those same seeds pushed through the soil as tall, green stalks.
They fed the whole village.

The Cross works like that.
The pressure, the waiting, the "burying"... it feels like death.
But God is using it to break you open so His life can come out of you.
Just as gold cannot be purified without going through a fiery fire to bring forth the best of the pure gold or the divers going deeper into the depth of the Ocean to unearth diamonds, so is the excruciating pains the Old Rugged Cross of Calvary means to our Saviour in order to save the whole world.

What you call a burden, God calls a blessing.
Because on the other side of the Cross is fruit, influence, and glory.

PRAYER & SANCTIFICATION

The I AM THAT I AM, the God of salvation and the Redeemer of mankind from eternal damnation. You are worthy of our praises and adoration. We bow in awe before Your Throne of mercy.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the Cross, that Old Rugged Cross.
Give me grace to embrace what You’re allowing in my life.
Don’t let me waste the pain.
Use my Cross to produce Your blessing in me and through me. Break me, mold me, melt and rework me as the handiwork of your eternal graces. Thank You for restoring me back whenever life tend to break me down. Hallelujah to You in the highest. Bless me and keep me till You come again in Jesus Name, Amen.

What "cross" are you carrying right now that God might be turning into a blessing?
Can you thank Him for it today, even before you see the fruit?
