Tribute to Veteran Actor Kola Oyewo

Nigeria has lost one of its finest cultural icons, Dr. Kola Oyewo, a veteran actor, dramatist, filmmaker, and scholar. With a career spanning over five decades, he made significant contributions to Yoruba theatre, Nollywood, and academic development in the performing arts.

Born on March 27, 1946, in Osun State, Kola Oyewo became widely known for his outstanding performances in productions such as The Gods Are Not to Blame, Sango, Saworoide, and Koseegbe. Beyond acting, he dedicated his life to teaching and mentoring younger generations as a lecturer in theatre arts.

His passion for preserving Nigerian culture and storytelling earned him admiration across the country. His legacy will continue to live on through his works, students, and the countless lives he inspired.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. Nigeria will remember and celebrate his immense contributions to the arts for generations to come.
