FCID Alagbon Announces Two Major Breakthroughs
The FCID Annex, Alagbon—led by AIG Margaret Ochalla—has recorded two big wins in the fight against cybercrime, piracy, and smuggling.
1. Online Piracy Syndicate Busted
Following a petition by FilmOne over the illegal upload of Owambe Thieves, detectives arrested a suspect who sold pirated movies via TikTok and WhatsApp. Forensic checks of his devices and OPay account uncovered evidence of multiple Nollywood piracies and over ₦7.6m linked to cyber-enabled offences. He has been charged in court.
2. 300 Rounds of Ammunition Intercepted
In another operation, FCID intercepted a container hiding 300 rounds of 9mm ammo, vehicles, foreign rice, used clothes, and other contraband. Five suspects were arrested. The shipment, traced to a sender in the U.S., concealed items not declared in the bill of lading. Investigations continue with Customs and DSS.
The FCID remains committed to protecting Nigeria’s creative industry, stopping arms trafficking, and keeping the country safe.
