When someone hurts you and then disappears, they’re not protecting you — they’re protecting themselves. People who lack emotional depth run from the messes they make because facing the truth would require a level of honesty they’ve never practiced. It’s easier for them to vanish than to admit that they were careless with your heart. It is easier to retreat than to acknowledge that they underestimated you.
Cowards don’t offer closure — they flee from the mirror. They hide behind silence hoping you’ll question your worth instead of recognizing theirs. They abandon the conversation because they know they can’t win it. And twisting the narrative behind your back is their last attempt at maintaining control, because actually taking responsibility would expose the weakness they spend their lives disguising.
Let them run. Don’t chase someone who’s terrified of their own reflection. Don’t dignify their disappearance with your explanations. Their absence is your evidence — proof that they were never built to stand beside a person who knows his/her value.
Closure isn’t something they can give you — it’s something you claim the moment you realize this:
someone who can’t face you never deserved access to you in the first place. 🖤
