Bauchi State Government has flagged off the distribution of cows and rams to residents across the state as Sallah gifts for the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held at the State Emergency Management Agency, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, said the distribution exercise has remained a tradition since the inception of his administration.

Represented by the Secretary to the State government, he noted that Eid-el-Kabir symbolizes sacrifice, drawing lessons from the obedience and devotion of Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him.

Aminu Hammayo explained that the animals would be distributed to different segments of society including traditional and political leaders, youths, women, vulnerable groups, and security agencies.

The SSG further disclosed that Governor Bala Mohammed directed the committee to patronize local livestock traders directly from markets across the state in order to support their businesses and livelihoods.

He commended members of the distribution committee for their commitment and disclosed that the exercise would be carried out simultaneously across all parts of the state including Azare, Toro, Misau and other communities.

The Commissioner for Budget and Multilateral Coordination, who is also the overseeing Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Amina Katagum, said the annual gesture demonstrates Governor Bala Mohammed’s commitment to ensuring that citizens celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival comfortably.

She explained that sacrificial animals would be distributed across the twenty local government areas of the state, describing the initiative as a reflection of the Governor’s compassion and concern for the welfare of the people.

*Governor Bala Mohammed Receives Bayer Delegation in Abuja, Secures Major Agricultural and Healthcare Investment Partnership for Bauchi State*

Governor Bala Mohammed today received a high-powered delegation from Bayer at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja during a courtesy visit led by Philipp-Andreas Schmidt, Head of Public Affairs, Science and Sustainability for Bayer in the Middle East.

The meeting centered on strategic areas of collaboration between Bayer, Tiamin Rice and the Bauchi State Government in agriculture, agro-allied value chains and healthcare development. The partnership is expected to attract significant investments aimed at accelerating Bauchi State’s economic growth and agricultural transformation agenda.

As part of the discussions, the delegation disclosed plans to commence a major agricultural project next week in Toro Local Government Area. The initiative is expected to significantly boost and revolutionize the production of maize and rice, positioning Bauchi State as a major agricultural hub for both local and international markets. The project is also expected to enhance food security, create employment opportunities and expose local farmers to modern agricultural technologies and best practices.

In a symbolic moment during the visit, the delegation presented Governor Bala Mohammed with a jersey from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the renowned German Bundesliga club owned by Bayer.

Governor Bala Mohammed received the delegation in the presence of the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Iliyasu Aliyu Gital, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Hassan El-Yakub. GOVERNOR BALA MOHAMMED MOURNS THE PASSING OF ALH. SHEHU YAHAYA JALAM IN MAKKA , KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA.

The Government and people of Bauchi State have received with deep sorrow the news of the death of Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam ( Turakin Dawakin Misau ), the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bauchi , who passed away in the early hours of today 17th May , 2026 in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after a brief illness while participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise.

Until his death, Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam was a dedicated, loyal, and hardworking public servant who devoted his life and energy to the service of Bauchi State. He played significant roles in the successful coordination of previous Hajj operations and other government assignments entrusted to him.

His passing is a great loss not only to his family and colleagues but also to the entire Bauchi State Government and the wider community who benefited from his commitment, humility, and sense of duty.

The funeral prayer for the deceased will be conducted later today after Zuhur prayer at the Holy Mosque of the Ka’aba in Makkah.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on behalf of the Government and good people of Bauchi State, extends heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Offices of the Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Civil Service , Misau and Dambam Emirate Councils , friends, associates, and all those affected by this painful loss.

The Governor prayed that the Almighty Allah will forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss.

Bauchi Boosts Special Patrol Team with New Motorcycles to Combat Crime

Bauchi State Government has provided seven motorcycles to strengthen operations of a special security patrol team, aimed at improving protection of residents and public property across communities in the state.

The overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, retired DIG Sani Usman Muhammed, disclosed this while presenting the motorcycles to members of the patrol team in Bauchi metropolis.

Retired DIG Sani Usman explained that the intervention followed Governor Bala Mohammed’s approval after growing concerns over rising activities of miscreants and cult groups whose actions continue threatening peace, safety, and order in some parts of the state.

He described the support as a positive development, noting that unchecked deviant behaviour among youths could gradually escalate into serious criminal activities across affected communities.

The overseeing Commissioner expressed confidence that the deployment of the motorcycles would improve surveillance, strengthen rapid response operations, and support ongoing efforts by personnel toward maintaining law and order across Bauchi State.

The special patrol team comprises vigilante members operating under the State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, alongside volunteers from the Peace and Reconciliation Committee supervised by the ministry officials there.

While urging proper utilisation of the motorcycles, Sani Usman assured residents that the ministry would closely monitor operations of the patrol team to ensure accountability, efficiency, and improved security.

The managing Director and Chief executive Officer first Bank of Nigeria Mr Olusegun Alebiesu has commended the economic policies of Governor Bala Mohammed saying the Bank would partner the state in improving the economic growth of the state.

*Gov. Bala Mohammed Quits PDP, Storms APM in Major Political Shake-Up.*

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.

The Governor announced the decision after a high-level meeting with stakeholders from the State, following the Supreme Court judgment on the PDP leadership crisis.

He described the situation within the PDP as “complex and uncertain,” noting that efforts to restore stability in the party had failed to produce results.

According to him, the apex court nullified the parallel conventions conducted by rival factions, leaving both sides without legal standing.

Governor Bala said the development created a vacuum in leadership, making it difficult for the party to move forward effectively.

He added that the decision to leave the PDP was taken after wide consultations with political leaders and stakeholders across the country.

The Governor, however, expressed gratitude to the PDP, describing it as a platform that contributed significantly to their political journey.

He emphasized that the move to APM was a “strategic repositioning” aimed at securing political victory and ensuring continuity in governance.

Governor Bala stated that the APM provides a credible and legally stable platform for political activities.

He revealed that a transition plan has already been put in place, including the establishment of a compliance committee and the commencement of membership registration.

Other measures include engagement with APM leadership at all levels and coordination with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

BAUCHI STATE GOVERNMENT DIRECTS POLITICAL APPOINTEES SEEKING ELECTIVE OFFICES TO RESIGN BY APRIL 24, 2026

In compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended), the Bauchi State Government hereby advises all political appointees who intend to contest for any elective position in the forthcoming party primary elections to resign their appointments on or before Friday, April 24, 2026, if they have not already done so.

This directive is in line with statutory requirements governing the participation of public office holders in electoral processes and is aimed at ensuring full compliance with the law.

Government expresses its appreciation to the affected appointees for their service and contributions to the development of Bauchi State, and wishes them success in their future endeavours.

All such appointees are further directed to hand over all government property in their possession, as well as the responsibilities of their offices, to the appropriate person ( officer ) within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

*Bauchi State Joins National Data Audit for New Revenue Allocation Formula.*

Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission has commenced data verification in Bauchi State as part of efforts to review the national revenue allocation formula.

Chairman of the Committee, Kabir Muhammad, disclosed this during a courtesy call on Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, represented by the Secretary to the State Government.

He said the committee is in the state to obtain and compare data with its existing records to ensure accuracy in the ongoing national assignment.

According to him, the exercise is aimed at ensuring fairness and equity in the sharing of revenue across the country.

He assured that the committee will carry out its responsibility with transparency and the fear of God, expressing optimism that the outcome will be acceptable to all.

Responding, the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government Hon. Aminu Hammayo, described the visit as part of the Commission’s routine constitutional responsibility.

He noted that the Commission plays a vital role in the distribution of revenue among the three tiers of government based on verified data.

The SSG emphasized that the Commission acts as an impartial arbiter, relying on accurate information from states to guide its decisions.
