Gov. Diri Inspects Gas Turbines Project, Assures Progress Towards 24-Hour Electricity Supply
In a notable shift from the festive New Year celebrations, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State conducted an inspection of the ongoing Gas Turbines project at Elebele this afternoon. The visit comes amidst growing concerns among Bayelsans regarding the delays impacting the planned commencement of the project.
Expressing his understanding of the public's apprehensions, Governor Diri shared optimism regarding the project's future, stating, "There is a ray of hope for the completion of the power plant." He announced that six out of the eight gas turbines have been successfully installed, while the remaining two turbines, alongside other crucial components, have arrived at Onne Ports and are scheduled for transportation to Yenagoa.
Following his assessment of the installation progress, the Governor received updates from engineers and technicians, confirming that the project has achieved an impressive completion rate of over 90 percent. This Independent Power Plant is a flagship initiative of his Government of Assured Prosperity, aimed at ensuring a 24-hour electricity supply for the region.
Governor Diri urged the citizens to exercise patience and understanding, assuring them of the government's unwavering commitment to delivering the project. "This initiative is pivotal for the economic transformation of our dear state," he stated, reinforcing the administration's dedication to improving the living standards and economic prospects of Bayelsans.
