I took my time to rewatch The Sound of Music over and over again. One thing stood out to me - I saw a different perspective on the whole thing.
Before, my attention was fixated on Captain Von Trapp, Sister Maria and the children. But now, I paid attention to the surroundings, the dรฉcor, Uncle Mark, and most especially, Baroness Shraeder.
My focus is on the trio of the baroness, Sister Maria and the captain.
Baroness was the fiancรฉe of the captain and things would have gone fine for them if Sister Maria and fate didn't jump into the family to scatter the beautiful life she was about to build with him.
However, while things would have been fine for them as a couple, it would not have been fun. There's a kind of flame Sister Maria brought to the family, nay the captain's life. Who would believe the man could play? Did you notice his childlike smile?
In every situation the trio find themselves, something always happens. Sister Maria naturally attracts the attention of the Captain.
She didn't do any special thing, other than being herself around him. But the baroness had to somehow announce her presence to catch his attention. Then, the captain would take away his attention from Sister Maria to her.
Her relationship with the captain was just like a typical royalty relationship where everyone plays the script. They just meet the requirements of the occasion and act as if everything is fine.
But is all fine?
Somehow somehow, the same fate that brought sister Maria into the family refuses to let her leave, even when Eleanor Parker used her manipulative woman's approach to send her back to the Abbey.
As time goes on, Baroness Shraeder realises she is the odd one in the fold. Even her relationship with the children is odd. She already planned to ship them off to a boarding school when she marries their father.
Do we blame her? No!
She is living her life, too. Seven stubborn children no be beans!
What I want to point out here is if you desire to fall in love, ensure it happens naturally. If you have to be with someone who will need you to announce your presence before noticing you, it is already dead on arrival. You will be emotionally battered while both of you put up a charade.
If someone is in love with another person, but in a relationship with you, your other name is sorry. They don't care about your emotions. It will take them efforts to restrain themselves from hurting you at will and they don't care.
If you have to announce your presence before your lover can notice you, you don't need that relationship. It will drain you emotionally. Even if you put up an "all is well" appearance, you know deep down that you are suffering and smiling.
One thing about love is you will always meet someone who will want the whole of you, not because of your status. Be you. Someone is looking for exactly you and will love you wholeheartedly.
The only thing you are permitted to do is to keep working on yourself all-round. Every other thing will align.
Another angle to the baroness's life. She's used to wealth and people serving and doing just everything for her. This makes her life boring. It was the advantage Sister Maria had over her. The baroness is perfect for any man looking to marry for the sake of status.
Sister Maria is just one naive, bold, wild and sassy woman, looking for a way to be let out of the Abbey so her true self can shine. The captain's family is just the perfect place to explore.
She uses every of her positive personality to win the heart of the man. Her creativity is top-notch. If it were Nollywood, she would have been timid. Lol.
If you want to stand out, add creativity to everything you do. Be dramatic, too. Stop playing safe. It's only in primary and secondary schools they give awards to well-behaved people. Since no one is giving you any award for acting a good girl/boy role, unleash the creativity in you. No pretence.
Even when Sister Maria annoys the captain, she does it sweetly and with grace. You can't ignore her. She's just there in your face, innocently attracting your attention. There is something about her.
It can also be said about you. Step up your game and add some colours to life. Make the life around you attractive. Some things are not magic. It's just that the person chooses to do it differently.
Choose to be different. Don't let people ignore you. I had a fair share of timidity. I could do anything to hide from people. But now, there's no way you won't notice me.
I know what to do to get everyone focused on me. Even if it means screaming in the marketplace, I'll do that, then maintain my steeze to the point you keep wondering where to place me - a good or bad girl?
Your choice! ๐คฃ๐คฃ
