Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Lami Danladi Lawrence has reaffirmed her determination and readiness to deliver the long-anticipated Ufia Town Hall Central Building in Ukwonyo, the headquarters of Utonkon district. She made the declaration during the 2025 Jokah Festival celebration, stressing that construction work will begin without delay once the Ufia Development Association (UDA) and community stakeholders allocate a parcel of land.
In her remarks, the Deputy Speaker Lami Danladi said the Town Hall project is not just a campaign promise but a developmental necessity for the Ufia people. According to her, the central hall will stand as a hub for cultural preservation, political consultation, youth empowerment, and social advancement.
โI am ready to commence this project immediately she reaffirmed. The only thing holding us back is the issue of land allocation. Once the UDA and our respected stakeholders take that step, work will begin in earnest,โ the Deputy Speaker stated.
The lawmaker, who represents Ado State Constituency, underscored that the Town Hall would serve as a unifying structure for all Ufia sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora. She described the 2025 Jokah Festival as a symbolic occasion to renew her pledge, noting that the cultural gathering reflects the unity and collective vision that the Town Hall is designed to embody.
โThis project will not be mine aloneโit will belong to the entire Ufia community. It will be a legacy of pride, a rallying point for dialogue, and a home for our traditions. Let us join hands and make it a reality,โ she said.
Her reaffirmation received wide applause from festival attendees, who welcomed her commitment. Community leaders, traditional rulers, and youth representatives praised her political will, describing the Town Hall as a long overdue infrastructure that would elevate the cultural and developmental standing of Ufia.
Speaking on behalf of Ufia people, Chief Tony Omirigwe the UDA chairman said: The Deputy Speaker has shown her seriousness once again. What remains is our duty as stakeholders to give her the enabling ground. Once that is done, Ufia will witness history.โ
Youth groups present at the festival also pledged their support, saying the project would create opportunities for training, civic engagement, and cultural preservation. Many pointed out that with a central venue, programs such as the Jokah Festival would gain greater recognition and attract more participation across the state.
Observers described Hon. Ogenyiโs renewed commitment as a strong political statement. Coming at a festive gathering, it demonstrated her focus on grassroots development and her resolve to match words with action.

With her vow on record, anticipation now rests on the decision of the UDA and Ufia stakeholders. She was accompanied by her supportive husband chief Sunday Shyne Attah,her Chief of staff Hon Jimmy Oche, her DG Hon. Andrew Odumu, Governor Liaison Officer(GLO) of Ado , Hon Mathew Ugwuru Lona, Hon Benjamin Agi , Her SA on New Media Comrade Agba Innocent and a whole lot of supporters.
The community looks forward to the land allocation that will unlock the long-awaited Town Hall project.
