BREAKING: SUPREME COURT AFFIRMS GOVERNOR KABIR YUSUF OF NNPP, DISMISSES APC'S SUIT

In a surprising turn of events, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has been spared from removal as the Supreme Court affirmed his election on Friday. This decision marks a departure from the lower courts that had previously nullified his victory.

A panel of Supreme Court Justices, led by Inyang Okoro, unanimously diverged from the decisions of the lower courts, choosing to uphold Governor Yusuf's win in the March 2023 election.

This case stands out as the most hotly contested governorship election dispute from the 2023 cycle, being the only one where a winner's victory was overturned by both the election petition tribunal and the Court of Appeal.

RukotoTV reports that the lead decision delivered on Friday, Mr. Okoro overturned the conclusions of the Court of Appeal on two critical issues that led to the lower court's decision to remove Governor Yusuf.

In a surprising twist, the Supreme Court reinstated Yusuf's votes that were initially canceled by the lower court due to unsigned ballot papers. Additionally, the court affirmed that Yusuf was validly nominated, contradicting the lower court's ruling that his candidacy was invalid based on his alleged non-membership in his party, the NNPP.

Justice Inyang Okoro JSC read the lead Judgement.

He held thus:

"I have found that the decision of the tribunal to deduct 165,616 votes from the Governor's results was based on provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.

“What is the effect of a ballot paper not having the marks by the Electoral commission?”

“A ballot paper that does not bear INEC mark is not invalid by all purposes.

Also, there is no proof that the said ballot papers were not the one used at the election. Thus the decision of the Court of Appeal affirming the decision of the tribunal ought to be set aside.

"Finally, the lower court wrongly misconstrued its evaluation of the ballot papers. This amounts to perversion.

Accordingly, all the ballot papers are restored to Governor Yusuf.

On the issue of membership and nomination, RukotoTV gathered that the Supreme Court held:

This court has consistently maintained that the issue of nomination or sponsorship of a candidate for an election is completely an exclusive prerogative of the political party.

We shall soon revive the case of Late Alh. Muh'd Abdulmumin aka Alkali Man Laruta area Bida known as Orphans Oppressor.
He died with crimes of innocence Orphans, and fortunately, the children who were in front line supporting all evils of their father without any evidence shall take over as we are ready to Sponsor the case since the justice as entangled and mutilated without any substantial reason.

One of the Children who spear head the demolition of Abdullateef Lakazibu property named Sadiq Muhammad Alkali who ran away when the father was arrested shall test the other side of the law soon, we have his record now on where he stays in Suleja and his working place, and also, we also, note the fraudulent charges they intend to commit on the case by bribing elderly people of the area and indirectly deceived them to endorse a written statement of what they were not informed of, by given them wrong statement to wallow them to signed of a document they are not informed of, infact all those men were contacted and we Nupe24News were fully inform and declaration was made by them directly, we denounce such fraud made Alkali family.

We also have in our record that, even Alkali house where he claimed to be his, that trigger his passion of wrongful possession and making a claim of Abdullateef Lakazibu property doesn't belong to him, it was build by his father, who also died with a crimes and wrongful claimed of Alh. Baba Lakazibu property, i.e Alkali father's house doesn't belong to him legally, some piece of land in that compound belong to Abdullateef father according to we were told by the eye witness at the time when his father(Abdullateef Lakazibu) bought those land.

We also understand the evil and support of Abdullateef Lakazibu step brothers who openly show their support to Alkali i.e conspiracy theory arranged against Abdullateef due to envy and enmity, we shall as well visit their crime before the court, and many more.
