THE GOVERNOR IS SILENT: “BANDITS LAUNCH ANOTHER FRESH ATTACKS IN LAFIAGI”

In a disturbing and alarming development, bandits have launched a fresh wave of attacks on three separate villages within the Lafiagi Emirate. The overnight assault has left the community in shock and fear, with residents demanding urgent intervention from both the Kwara State Government and the Federal Government.

According to eyewitnesses, the attacks occurred in the villages of Guye Dadi, Ekko, and Gbugbu. In Guye Dadi, the bandits abducted one resident, leaving the community in a state of panic. The whereabouts and safety of the abducted individual remain unknown.

The situation took a tragic turn in Ekko village, where the bandits' attack resulted in the loss of one life. One person was brutally killed, and another was kidnapped. The brutal killing has sent shockwaves through the community, and residents are demanding justice.

In Gbugbu, the bandits targeted a phone dealer, who was kidnapped during the attack. The business community is particularly concerned about the safety of traders and entrepreneurs in the area.

I find it rather striking, and somewhat disconcerting, that there's a considerable amount of attention being directed towards international news and conflicts, such as the situation between Iran and Israel, while domestic issues that are equally, if not more, pressing seem to be taking a backseat in the public discourse.

Specifically, the ongoing struggles with banditry and terrorism, notably from groups like Boko Haram, continue to plague various parts of the country, resulting in significant loss of life and displacement of people. The gravity of these situations cannot be overstated, and it's imperative that they receive the attention and action they warrant.

In a recent and particularly harrowing incident, bandits attacked Yelewata in Benue state, leading to the deaths of over 200 people. This tragic event underscores the urgent need for effective measures to address these security challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens. It's crucial that the focus on domestic issues is heightened to address these pressing concerns.
