NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT INSPECTS PROPOSED SITE FOR NEW GOVERNMENT HOUSE BEHIND ZUMA ROCK.
The Ministry of Lands and Survey Management have conducted an inspection visit to the proposed site for the construction of a new Government House facility located behind Zuma Rock, as part of efforts to advance planned urban development under the Greater Suleja Plan.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner of Lands and Survey Barr. Bello Ahmad Agwara explained that the establishment of a new Government House in the area is aimed at improving government operations, enhancing accessibility, and bringing administrative activities closer to the people, particularly within the rapidly developing areas around Suleja and its environs.
He explained that the proposed development falls within the framework of the Greater Suleja Plan, which covers Suleja Local Government Area, Gurara, and other surrounding communities, with the objective of creating a well-structured and modern urban environment
The Commissioner emphasized that In the event of delays or congestion along the Zuba–Kaduna–Abuja corridor, motorists will have the option of using this route to access Abuja more easily, thereby enhancing transportation, trade, and economic activities in the state
The commissioner was accompanied by the office of the Survey General of Niger State Surv. Dr. Idris Aliyu Auna, Acting Director Lands Alhaji Umar Nagya, Acting Director Town Planning Tpl. Danbaba Umar Idris Erana, Chairman Niger-FCT Border Commission Alhaji Babasule Bisallah ( Sarkin Shanu) Chairman Tafa Local Government Area Danladi T. Iyah together with other technical officials of the ministry.
Barr Ahmad stated that the team carried out a comprehensive assessment of the site, including the collection of geographical coordinates to determine the boundaries and support proper demarcation, documentation, and protection of the allocated land.
The officials also inspected the area to ascertain that there are no cases of encroachment, disputes, or other encumbrances that could hinder the successful ex*****on of the project. They emphasized that due process would be followed in securing and developing the land in line with government regulations.
Speaking during the visit the Survey General Niger State Surv. Dr. Idris Aliyu Auna explained that the location is important because it shares boundaries with two neighbouring states and is easily accessible from the Federal Capital Territory. He added that having a Government House in the area would allow the governor to hold official meetings and carry out government activities within that jurisdiction without always travelling to Abuja.
He reaffirmed that the government would first establish its legal claim to the land before proceeding with further development plans, stressing that all necessary procedures would be followed and the preliminary assessment of the site indicates that the proposed area covers approximately 16 hectares of land, subject to further planning and confirmation.
