Niger Police Deploy Over 5,000 Personnel for Eid-el-Fitr Security
The Niger State Police Command has announced the deployment of over 5,000 personnel to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, directed all Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical units to intensify intelligence-led policing and conduct raids on identified blackspots ahead of the festivities.
As part of the security measures, the Command will deploy operational assets including anti-riot water cannons, gun trucks, and patrol vehicles. Officers have also been tasked with maintaining strong visibility policing and carrying out coordinated show-of-force operations in collaboration with other security agencies before, during, and after the celebration.
Specialised units such as the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN), Tactical Support Team (TST), Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and Anti-Thuggery Unit will be stationed at major Eid grounds, recreational centres, amusement parks, and other strategic public locations across the state.
The Command confirmed that a comprehensive operational order has been issued to ensure effective coordination, adequate supervision of personnel, and smooth traffic flow at designated Eid prayer grounds.
Residents have been advised to celebrate responsibly, with parents and guardians urged to closely monitor their children and wards. The Police warned that acts of thuggery and disorder will not be tolerated, stressing that offenders will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
CP Elleman also extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to the Muslim Ummah in the state, urging adherence to the values of sacrifice, love, and tolerance as exemplified during Ramadan, while wishing all residents a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
