Morocco Awarded 2025 AFCON Title After CAF Annuls Final Result

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following the annulment of the final match result against Senegal.

The decision comes after Senegal’s walkout during the match, which led to a disruption lasting approximately 17 minutes before play briefly resumed. During that period, Morocco’s Brahim Díaz saw his penalty saved, while Senegal’s Pape Gueye went on to score what was initially considered the winning goal in extra time.

However, CAF has since voided the result.

In a statement, the governing body confirmed that Senegal is deemed to have forfeited the final, with the match officially recorded as a 3–0 victory in favour of Morocco.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 : US warship ‘Tripoli’ arrives in Singapore with 2,500 Marines, resupplies before heading toward Strait of Hormuz

The US Navy amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7) has arrived in Singapore carrying about 2,500 US Marines, making a brief logistical stop to refuel and replenish supplies before continuing its deployment.

After departing Singapore, the vessel is expected to sail across the Indian Ocean toward the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The movement comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where the narrow waterway remains one of the world’s most critical routes for global energy shipments.

The USS Tripoli (LHA-7) is one of the US Navy’s newest amphibious assault ships, capable of supporting expeditionary operations, crisis response missions, and maritime security patrols.

The Niger State Police Command has announced the deployment of over 5,000 personnel to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, directed all Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical units to intensify intelligence-led policing and conduct raids on identified blackspots ahead of the festivities.

As part of the security measures, the Command will deploy operational assets including anti-riot water cannons, gun trucks, and patrol vehicles. Officers have also been tasked with maintaining strong visibility policing and carrying out coordinated show-of-force operations in collaboration with other security agencies before, during, and after the celebration.

Specialised units such as the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN), Tactical Support Team (TST), Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and Anti-Thuggery Unit will be stationed at major Eid grounds, recreational centres, amusement parks, and other strategic public locations across the state.

The Command confirmed that a comprehensive operational order has been issued to ensure effective coordination, adequate supervision of personnel, and smooth traffic flow at designated Eid prayer grounds.

Residents have been advised to celebrate responsibly, with parents and guardians urged to closely monitor their children and wards. The Police warned that acts of thuggery and disorder will not be tolerated, stressing that offenders will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

CP Elleman also extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to the Muslim Ummah in the state, urging adherence to the values of sacrifice, love, and tolerance as exemplified during Ramadan, while wishing all residents a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or emergencies through designated police contact lines.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barrister Mohammed Ndarani (SAN), has officially declared his intention to contest for the Niger South (Zone A) Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Barrister Ndarani made the declaration on Monday during a visit to the State Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he said his ambition is driven by a desire to galvanise socio-economic development in Niger State and Nigeria at large.

“My aspiration is to take Niger State to the zenith of development,” he said, adding that his candidature would bolster even development across the senatorial district and beyond.

He also pledged support for the state governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago, describing him as an “indefatigable farmer-governor” committed to transforming the state.

“We are in the party to support the governor in consolidating the development of Niger State. We are equally committed to complementing his laudable efforts and advancing his vision for greater heights,” Ndarani stated.
The legal practitioner noted that he has been a founding member of the APC since its formation in 2015 and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Responding, the State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Aminu Bobi, described the party in Zone A as strong and united, expressing confidence in Ndarani’s aspiration. He characterised him as a critical stakeholder and loyal party member with widespread support among members and leaders.

Hon. Bobi urged party faithful to remain united and avoid actions that could undermine the party, while emphasising the need to present credible candidates capable of securing victory in the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Ndarani SAN Senatorial Organisation (NDASSO), Engr. Dagachi Mohammed Etsugaie, described the aspiration as a “rescue mission” aimed at accelerating development in the district.
