Much people from Kwara North are fleeing their homes to places like Ilorin, Tsaragi, and Bacita. We urge the Kwara State government to intervene before the situation worsens.

May God restore peace to our motherland.

2027 : Peter Obi Will Never Be President Of Nigeria - Nyesom Wike Declares

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has dismissed the possibility of Peter Obi ever becoming Nigeria’s president, declaring that the former Anambra State governor’s political moment is over.

Speaking on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at a thanksgiving service marking the completion of new projects in Abuja, Wike took aim at the ADC-backed opposition coalition and its key figure, Peter Obi.

“Peter Obi can never be president again; his time has passed,” Wike said.

“Now he says democracy is no longer working. But when he was governor of Anambra, democracy was working,” Wike added, ridiculing what he called Obi’s shifting stance.

Obi's One-Term Presidency Proposal Unlikely to Sway Northern Nigeria, Says Ex-IPAC Chair

Former Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Chairman, Yabagi Sani, believes Peter Obi's recent proposal to serve only a single term if elected president in 2027 won't gain much support in northern Nigeria.

During a Channels TV interview, Sani explained that the North views power rotation as a critical issue of balance, not just sentiment. He stated that northern stakeholders would question why power should remain in the South after President Bola Tinubu's tenure, emphasizing that the informal agreement of eight years North and eight years South still holds significant weight.

Obi, the Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, had mentioned his openness to a one-term presidency during an X Space conversation on Sunday, aligning it with potential coalition zoning arrangements. However, Sani dismissed this as unconvincing to the North, suggesting it appears to be a "shortcut" that won't sit well with their political calculations, especially if Tinubu seeks re-election.

Sani also expressed skepticism about Obi's ability to uphold such a promise, referencing historical instances where leaders abandoned reformist pledges once in office.

He asserted, "Peter Obi is no saint; he's not from another planet," highlighting that the realities of incumbency, state capture, and political pressure often make it difficult to honor such commitments.

According to Sani, "So many people won’t take Obi’s one-term talk seriously."

Senate to Submit Constitution Amendment Draft Before December

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, has disclosed that the draft of the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution will be ready and transmitted to state Houses of Assembly before December 2025. He made this known through Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele at the South-West zonal public hearing held in Lagos.

Barau emphasized that the process was inclusive and driven by public input, stressing that the Senate was committed to reflecting the voices of Nigerians. He noted that issues such as state police, judicial reforms, new state creation, and gender inclusion were among the top priorities under review.

The proposed amendments must be ratified by at least 24 of Nigeria’s 36 state assemblies before they can take effect. The Senate aims to complete this phase by the end of the year, ahead of the 2026 general political timeline.

JUST IN: Barcelona to Pay Lionel Messi Final Deferred Salary

FC Barcelona will pay Lionel Messi the remaining €5.95 million from his deferred salary during the 2020 season by Monday.

The payment relates to a portion of Messi’s salary that was postponed as part of financial adjustments made during the COVID-19 pandemic when Barcelona was under severe economic strain.

This move officially closes the financial chapter between the club and its greatest-ever player, nearly three years after his departure to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.

Messi had agreed to defer part of his wages to support the club’s financial recovery.

The agreement ensured the balance would be paid in phases

With this final installment, Barcelona will have fulfilled all outstanding commitments to the Argentine legend

Messi, now with Inter Miami, remains a beloved figure at Barça, with ongoing talks about a possible tribute match at the Camp Nou once renovations are complete.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Sets Resumption Date Following Court Victory

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has announced she will officially resume her legislative duties on Tuesday, July 8.

This announcement comes just days after a federal court ruling that favored the embattled senator, clearing the path for her return to the Red Chamber.

In a statement, Natasha expressed her gratitude to supporters and reiterated her commitment to serving the people of Kogi Central.

“I thank you for your support. I am glad we are victorious today. We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God,” she said.

Natasha was suspended earlier this year over a series of controversies, but the recent court judgment nullified the grounds of her suspension, declaring it unconstitutional and directing immediate reinstatement.
