A Lagos-based educationist, Stella Ekeh, has narrated how her husband, Isaac Ekeh, bathed her with hot water while sleeping at night and left town.


The incident happened on May 31, 2022, at 3:00 a.m. at Satellite Town, Alakija, in Amuwo-Odofin Local Council of Lagos State.

Mrs. Ekeh, who sustained a high degree of injuries, said the family had dinner together before the unfortunate incident.

The mother of four said that her husband has since travelled to his village after causing her grievous harm, adding that he is currently in his village in Owerri, Imo state.


She said: “My children, husband and I ate dinner together on a fateful day before we went to bed.

“Isaac woke up at about 3:00 a.m., boiled water, which he used to bathe me, while I was still sleeping in the bedroom.

“My scream alerted my children, who stormed my room as my body was peeling.

“My children rushed me to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, where I am receiving treatment.


“What baffled me was that we did not quarrel, no fight, no disagreement that would have warranted him to scald my skin,” she said.

When The Guardian contacted Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP), Benjamin Hundeyin on the matter, he said the case was never reported to the police.

He asked the victim to file a report.

“Just imagine if she died during that incident. I don’t know why she didn’t report it. We urge her to go to any police station nearer to her to make a formal report,” Hundeyin said.

Ben Wallace said the M270 multiple-launch rocket system will help Ukraine defend itself against Russia.

The UK government has not confirmed how many weapons will be sent, but the BBC understands it will be three initially.

The decision was co-ordinated with the US, which announced last week it was also supplying a rocket system.

The move by the US has already angered Moscow and on Sunday Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to expand the list of targets Russia will attack in Ukraine if Western countries send long-range weapons to Kyiv.

"These highly capable multiple-launch rocket systems will enable our Ukrainian friends to better protect themselves against the brutal use of long-range artillery, which Putin's forces have used indiscriminately to flatten cities."

Britain and America have led the way in supplying weapons to Ukraine, but giving it advanced long range rockets marks a significant shift, said the BBC's defence correspondent Jonathan Beale.

It is also a recognition that Ukraine is struggling to compete against Russia's vast artillery arsenal, he added.

The UK's multiple launch rocket system can fire 12 surface-to-surface missiles within a minute and can strike targets within 50 miles (80km) with pinpoint accuracy - far further than the artillery Ukraine currently possesses.

It is similar to the system the US is sending, the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).

Last week Washington said it would supply four HIMARS multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine - following receipt of guarantees they would be used for defensive purposes only and not to strike targets in Russia

President Muhammadu Buhari said "only fiends from the nether region" could have done this "dastardly act".

The armed men entered St Francis Catholic church in the town of Owo during a Sunday service. They fired into the congregation and then kidnapped a priest as well as some other church-goers, witnesses said.

Nigeria has experienced an upsurge in violence in recent months.

Kidnappings and attacks have been reported across the vast country.

No figures for the numbers killed or abducted in Sunday's violence have been confirmed.

But a doctor at a local hospital, quoted by the Reuters news agency, said that "several worshippers were brought in dead". After visiting the church and hospital, state lawmaker Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole told the Associated Press news agency that children were among the dead.

In a series of tweets, Ondo state Governor Rotimi Akeredolu called it a "vile and satanic attack" on innocent people . He appealed for calm urging people not to take the law into their own hands.

"The assailants will be hunted down and they will pay for their crimes," he added in a message sent after being briefed at the scene.

"No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people," President Buhari said in a statement. He is in the final year of his two-term presidency and has been criticised for failing to get to grips with the country's security problems.

No-one has said that they were behind this attack, but Nigeria is facing worsening violence by armed groups, the BBC's Chris Ewokor in the capital, Abuja, says. But Ondo state has, until now, been relatively untouched.

Exactly a week ago the head of the Methodist Church in Nigeria was abducted along with two other clerics in the south-east of the country.

The Methodist prelate said he paid $240,000 (£190,000) to be freed with his companions.

Two weeks ago, two Catholic priests were kidnapped in Katsina, President Muhammadu Buhari's home state in the north of the country. They have not been released.

In March, gunmen targeted the vital rail link between Abuja and the northern city of Kaduna killing at least nine people and kidnapping dozens of others, many of whom are still being held.

German Parliament Approves Minimum Wage Of €12 Per Hour

The statutory minimum wage in Germany will rise to 12 euros per hour (12.89 dollars) in October, after a vote on Friday in the Bundestag parliament.

The minimum wage was passed with the votes of the centre-left coalition, the Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens and the Free Democrats as well as the hard-left Die Linke party.

The conservative opposition and the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) abstained.

Currently, the minimum wage is 9.82 euros; by July 1, it will rise to 10.45 dollars.

At the same time, the maximum remuneration for so-called mini-jobs will rise from 450 euros to 520 euros per month in October.

Labour Minister, Hubertus Heil, said women and people in eastern Germany would particularly benefit from the increase in the minimum wage.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, from the SPD, had made the wage increase a key promise of his election campaign in 2021.

Many of the speakers during the debate used the current high inflation as part of the reason why a minimum wage was vital.

However, opposition parties argued that the minimum wage would not protect people against further prices increases and that there were other ways; to increase purchasing power and keep Germany’s economy competitive.

Wife And Her Two Children In Adamawa Allegedly Pay Assassin N120, 000 To Kill Father For His Money

For reportedly conniving to pay an assassin N120, 000 to murder their 60-year-old father, Saidu Mamman, a housewife, Hapsat Saidu, and her two children, Fa’iza Saidu and Faisal Saidu, have been arrested by the police in Adamawa state.

The incident was confirmed by DSP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson of the state police command.

According to Nguroje, the occurrence took place at their residence in Sangere FUTY in Girei Local Government Area of the state on April 22, 2022.

The police spokesperson, said the mother of six who has been married to her husband for over 30 years, had over the years instigated the children against their father, saying he never provides for them and that he hates them The children, in turn, begrudged their father for allegedly failing to provide for them and paying their school fees.

Nguroje mentioned that the suspects had in the past planned to kill the deceased but failed as one of them leaked the information to their father who confronting his wife, took the matter to court. He, however, withdrew the case and asked that he settled the matter within his family.
