Kebbi State Government Supports Students with N422 Million Registration Fees
In a significant boost to the education sector, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, has approved the release of ₦422,101,955.30 to cover the registration fees of 6,127 Kebbi State indigenes studying at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This initiative underscores Governor Idris' commitment to enhancing the education sector and alleviating the financial burden on parents. The breakdown of the funds shows that ₦211,626,378.30 has been allocated for 3,922 students at the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, while ₦210,475,577.00 has been earmarked for 2,205 students at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Hon. Isah Abubakar Tunga, made this announcement during a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi. He expressed gratitude to Governor Idris for his unwavering dedication to the educational advancement of Kebbi State citizens. Hon. Tunga also revealed that efforts are underway to extend similar support to Kebbi State indigenes studying in other tertiary institutions across the country.
This gesture is expected to significantly ease the financial burden on students and their families, allowing them to focus on their academic pursuits. The state's commitment to education is a testament to Governor Idris' vision for a brighter future for Kebbi State's youth.
