HOW LONG WILL HE WAIT FOR YOU?

Main Text: Isaiah 55:6–7

“Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him.”

Introduction

God is patient, loving, and full of mercy. He keeps reaching out to us, calling us to turn back to Him. But that invitation isn’t something we should keep putting off forever. One big question we all need to think about is:

"How long will God wait for me?"

The Bible is clear—today is the day to respond. Tomorrow isn’t promised.

Point 1: God Waits Because He Loves You

Scripture: 2 Peter 3:9

“The Lord is... longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

God’s patience is really just His love in action. He’s given you chance after chance to turn back to Him, to repent, and to live His way.

Point 2: God's Patience Won’t Last Forever

Scripture: Genesis 6:3

“My spirit shall not always strive with man...”

There is a limit to God’s patience. In Noah’s time, people ignored God’s warnings until the flood came—and by then, it was too late.

Point 3: Delayed Obedience Is Dangerous

Scripture: Hebrews 3:15

“Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”

Every time you ignore God’s voice, your heart gets a little harder. Putting off repentance is one of the enemy’s biggest traps.

Point 4: Many Waited Too Long

The Rich Fool – Luke 12:16–21

He made big plans for his future, but he died that very night—completely unprepared for eternity.

The Five Foolish Virgins – Matthew 25:1–13

They weren’t ready when the bridegroom came. The door was shut, and they were left outside.

Point 5: Today Is God's Invitation

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:2

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Don’t assume you’ll have tomorrow. God is calling you right now.

Questions for Reflection

How long will God keep calling you?

How many more chances will you get?

If Jesus came back today, would you be ready?

If today was your last day, where would you spend eternity?

Conclusion

God is still showing you mercy today—but we don’t know how long that door will stay open. His grace is here right now, but it won’t always be.

Choose Christ while you still have the chance.
