Elon Musk announced that Tesla will reveal its purpose-built "robotaxi" prototype on October 10, after changing the original plan to unveil it on August 8.

He mentioned that Tesla will also present "a couple of other things" but didn't specify what they are.

Musk had requested a significant design change to the front of the prototype earlier this month, which led to the delay.

β€œMoving it back a few months allowed us to improve the robotaxi, as well as add in a couple other things for the product unveil,” Musk said during the call.

The Tesla robotaxi and the "unsupervised" full self-driving software are central to the company's future. Earlier this year,

Musk laid off over 10% of Tesla’s global staff to focus on developing AI-powered products, including a strong push toward autonomy.
