Commissioner for the Borno State Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, who is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of an underpass at the Gamboru Junction in Jere Local Government Area.

During the inspection, Engr. Gubio was warmly welcomed by Amb. Mohammed Yalli Bello, the Founder and CEO of Dan Nene Construction Transport and Service Nigeria Limited, at the Gamboru Junction construction site.

The Honorable Commissioner thoroughly examined the progress of the construction work on the site. He particularly emphasized the importance of prompt and high-quality work by the site engineers and supervisors. Additionally, he assured them of his accessibility and willingness to provide any necessary developmental advice.

In essence, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, the Borno State Commissioner for Works and Housing, took the opportunity to assess the ongoing construction of the underpass at Gamboru Junction in Jere LG. He received a warm welcome from Amb. Mohammed Yalli Bello, the CEO of Dan Nene Construction Transport and Service Nigeria Limited, and stressed the need for efficient and top-notch work from the site's engineers and supervisors. He also expressed his openness to offering guidance for further development.

Fuel Subsidy: Zulum gives 2,000 households palliatives in Feezan

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has distributed food and other palliatives to 2,000 residents of Feezan ward in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC).

The distribution which took place on Wednesday at the Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies is part of ongoing efforts to reduce hardship caused by rising cost of living as a result of the withdrawal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

Zulum in July launched the distribution of palliatives which targeted over 300,000 households with about six persons per household to reach one million and eight hundred thousand (1.8m) persons in need.

Under the programme, each eligible resident in Feezan received a palliative voucher that entitled them to get food items in order to reduce the hardship due to the rising prices of commodities.

At the latest distribution in Feezan, the 2,000 households comprising 1,000 heads of male households and 1,000 heads of female households each received one bag of rice and a bag of beans.

To ensure transparency and accountability in the selection process, Borno State Government engaged the civil society to be part of the palliative distribution committee.

Speaking at the event, Governor Zulum represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, said 15 wards in Maiduguri Metropolis will benefit with each ward receiving 2,000 bags of rice and 2,000 bags of beans.

Engr Mustapha Gubio has taken over as the new commissioner of Works and Housing in Borno State. He expressed gratitude for his reappointment by Governor Professor Engr. Babagana Umara Zulum, and pledged to focus on urbanization projects and construction of houses and roads. Engr Gubio emphasized his commitment to following the governor's directives and the state's laws, while encouraging cooperation from ministry staff. He also thanked Borno citizens for their support and prayers, promising to serve them diligently and make them proud.
