SEASON 8: THE CELEBRATION

The morning of the celebration came with the rhythm of drums Anga echoing across Ugye. Birds danced on tree branches, the sun broke through the clouds like a blessing, and laughter echoed from every home.
Aboze had made her choice ,and now, the village would honor it.
🌾 Preparations Begin
From Ogilazi to Ugye, the news spread quickly. The daughter of Ogilazi and the son of Ugye were finally to be joined , and celebrated ,as one.
Women pounded yam while singing joyful tunes. The youth decorated the Atinga family music square. Elder women laid out fine wrappers, men polished their shoes, and the musical instrument Anga was tuned for dance.
Atinga’s compound transformed into a scene of colors, music, and anticipation.
So before the payement of the dowry
🌺 According to Etulo Tradition
With the Uza Ashuwa received and accepted, the traditional process moved forward
Immediately after Aboze accepted the Uza Ashuwa, Atinga and three close friends paid a three-day visit to Aboze’s family , a respected custom called Okwo Ofe.
Each visit was between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM
The bride’s parents ensured the time was respected; lateness attracted a ₦5,000 fine
These evening visits were filled with light refreshment, storytelling, laughter, and the strengthening of bonds between the two families.
💒 Bride Price Ceremony
On the agreed day, Atinga’s family arrived at Aboze’s home with pride and honor to pay the bride price
💰 Angba,Traditional Greeting and Welcome
As the first part of the ceremony, the groom’s family greeted Aboze’s parents with Angba,a customary greeting accompanied by the sum of ₦2,400.00.
The money was shared equally among six members of Aboze’s family:
3 from the paternal side and 3 from the maternal side (₦400 each).
🎁 Bride Price Payment
Atinga’s family then fulfilled the bride wealth payment:
₦50,000.00 handed to the bride’s parents
4 measures bucket of Ebye and 4 measure bucket of Oso (kunu)
They also provided the additional symbolic gifts
Owa Imbe – ₦400(sweeping )
Ago – ₦400(noise making apeal)
Okulu Ondo – ₦400(opening of mouth)
Ofulu Oputu – ₦400(rolling of mat after the negotiation )
Okulu Ofe – ₦400(freedom to pass)
Ota Iwi – ₦400 (to remove the spirit of shyness from the bride)

🙏🏾 Elders’ Blessing
The elders gathered and poured Ebye (Burukutu) as a traditional blessing over the marriage.
Aboze’s father stood proudly and gave his final blessing:
This is how our ancestors did it , with joy, honor, and peace.
This is Etulo love.I bless your marriege my daughter
🍽️ Refreshment at Bride’s Family House
After the blessings, guests were served light refreshments at Aboze’s family home ,Rice ,pounded yam with fresh fish ,traditional snacks, and drinks were shared. Smiles filled the air.
🏠 Journey to the Groom’s House (Ugye)
With laughter and songs, Atinga and his people together with Aboze wear escorted from her family home in Ogilazi to Ugye.
It was a gentle but beautiful procession. The young maiden was now a wife.
🌙 The Night of Joy
A Celebration in Ugye
As the stars blinked above Ugye, the real celebration kicked off. Guests gathered at Atinga’s compound, some with gift items, others simply with joy in their hearts.
Atinga and Aboze were repeatedly called into the music arena as a couple.
Drums rolled. Anga beat loud.
💃🏾 Guests sprayed money as the couple danced.
The village erupted in celebration.
🌟 Special Moment
Omagbe’s Grand Entry
As the music paused for a moment, an announcement was made,🤸🕺
A special guest will now honor the couple.
Omagbe, Aboze’s former crusher and a respected friend to both families now , stepped into the arena.
The DJ switched to a modern beat, and the crowd cheered loudly. People shouted his name. He smiled humbly, then stepped toward the dancing couple.
With grace, Omagbe began spraying money ,more than anyone else had done that night.
His generosity stunned the crowd.
He danced briefly, waved to Aboze and Atinga in friendship, and stepped aside respectfully.
It was a moment of maturity, peace, and unity.
✨ Final Merriment
The drums beat louder.
The elders sipped palm w**e and Ebye ,burukutu
Guests danced all night, with music and joy rising like smoke into the stars.
Atinga and Aboze danced again and again, surrounded by love and tradition.
As the moon rose above Etulo land, one love story came full circle and a new chapter began.
