Day 1 of Learning JavaScript 🚀
Today I stopped treating APIs like magic.
I fetched data from an API, converted the response to JSON, and started experimenting with Object.entries() and map() to understand how API data is structured.
One thing that clicked for me today:
Not every API returns an array.
Sometimes you get an object first, and the actual array you're looking for is inside one of its properties. Understanding the shape of the data before reaching for .map() saves a lot of confusion.
Still learning. Still breaking things. Still asking questions.
Every bug I solve today is one less bug Future Me has to struggle with.

The most dangerous phase in tech is not beginner.

It's "I know some things now."

This is where people get stuck for years.

You know:
Some JavaScript,
Some APIS,
Some Frameworks,
Some Buzzwords.

Enough to feel smart.
Not enough to be effective.

So you stop asking questions.
You stop reading docs.
You stop feeling stupid.

And that's where growth dies.

Beginners grow fast because they're humble.
Seniors grow because they're curious. Intermediates stagnate because they're comfortable.

The real upgrade in tech is not new tools.
It's staying in beginner mode mentally- forever.

The moment you stop feeling lost sometimes, you've stopped evolving.

You showed up today even if you didn’t feel ready. Congratulations.

Dear Nigerian Web Development Beginners,

I just want to share a short message with my fellow beginners this evening.

I know it’s hard.
I know it sucks.
And honestly, it’s not easy here.
At first, I didn’t even know what coding meant as at last year. I didn’t know what was used to build Facebook or websites.

I literally started by searching: What does coding mean.

That single question gave me the courage to begin.
Then came the real Nigerian challenges.

No light.
The hostel you are looking has been without electricity for over 6 years in a school area.
I would go to school just to charge my laptop, and if there was no light there, I’d go to a café.

It was frustrating, but I kept going.
Another thing that affected me was not being visible.
I deleted my social media accounts and tried to build in silence. That slowed me down. Showing up matters. Let people see what you’re learning. When you’re stuck, post your problem someone out there is willing to help.

Excuses will always be there.
No laptop? Start with your phone. I have friends who still code with their phones and they’re doing amazingly well.
No money for courses? YouTube has thousands of free resources just avoid tutorial hell. Learn, break things, rebuild, and learn again.

Don’t expect quick money.
Don’t complain too much.
Just stay consistent and keep pushing.

Note: We are the future of tomorrow and the future is built by those who refuse to give up.
