Amazon to Shut Down Freevee, Migrate Content to Prime Video

Amazon is shutting down Freevee, its free ad-supported streaming television service (FAST). The service’s content has already been moved to Prime Video, and new episodes of Freevee shows will now be available to non-Prime members, according to Deadline. The Freevee brand will be phased out in the coming weeks.

Launched in 2019 as IMDb Freedive, the service was quickly rebranded to IMDb TV and then to Freevee in 2022. Freevee featured its own original content, including *Bosch: Legacy* and *Jury Duty*, and in 2023, Amazon began adding Prime Video content to the platform.

An Amazon spokesperson told Deadline, “To deliver a simpler viewing experience for customers, we have decided to phase out the Freevee brand. There will be no change to the content available for Prime members, and a wide selection of free streaming content will remain available for non-Prime members, including select Originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a variety of licensed movies and series, and a large library of FAST Channels — all accessible on Prime Video.”

Trump: Elon Musk to Co-Lead New Department of Government Efficiency

written by Abiodun LawalNovember 13, 2024

On Tuesday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, X (formerly Twitter), Neuralink, and the founder of xAI, will co-lead a new initiative within the Trump administration aimed at overhauling federal bureaucracy. The Department of Government Efficiency abbreviated as DOGE—after Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency, Dogecoin—will focus on cutting wasteful spending, slashing unnecessary regulations, and restructuring federal agencies. Musk will be joined by biotech entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy in this ambitious effort.

The DOGE initiative, however, will not function as a traditional government agency. Instead, it will provide external advisory and guidance to the White House and the Office of Management and Budget, avoiding the need for legislative approval or government funding. According to the Trump campaign’s press release, DOGE’s mandate is set to conclude by July 4, 2026.

The concept of a Department of Government Efficiency has been discussed by Elon Musk for months, particularly as he campaigned for Trump across the country. While the specifics of DOGE’s role and structure were unclear at the time, the announcement solidifies its place as part of Trump’s broader plan to reduce the size and scope of the federal government.

At an October rally in New York, Musk promised to identify “at least $2 trillion in cuts” within federal agencies if Trump wins the election. However, he did not specify which agencies or programs would face cuts, leaving questions about the details of those reductions.

The relationship between Trump and Musk has strengthened in recent months, particularly after the two held a joint conversation on X Spaces in August. Musk has also been a major financial backer of Trump’s 2024 campaign, donating over $100 million to a pro-Trump super PAC, America PAC, and organizing rallies in key swing states.

‘’Explore Tech Courses Online, Start With Small Steps’’ Success Ifeoma Okorie Advises Young People

Being adaptable and tech-savvy can make you more competitive in today’s job market. These were Success Ifeoma Okorie’s words to young people during an exclusive interview with Tech Diary.

In this insightful interview, Success, a tech-savvy graduate of Public Administration who is competent in many areas discusses her journey into tech, passion, the future of tech in Africa, and how she blends her career with social life.

Can we know a bit about you?

I’m Success Ifeoma Okorie, a 26-year-old passionate about making a name for myself and standing out in a world where many lack direction. My tech career reflects my commitment to blending creativity with problem-solving. I’m driven by a desire to tackle complex challenges and create innovative solutions. Outside work, I enjoy adventure, reading, writing, swimming, and pursuing various interests that keep me engaged and inspired. I also hope to inspire young people by showing that our backgrounds don’t have to hold us back if we’re determined. We can overcome challenges and achieve our goals with the right mindset and effort.

You studied Public Administration, how did you get into tech?

I initially aimed to study law, but life happened and led me to explore other fields. While working in photography and videography, I discovered my passion for creating beautiful things and images. When my boss Dr. Peter Adogbejire Mrakpor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, encouraged me to pursue a tech career, I reflected on my interests and realized that data analysis and web development were the right fields for me. Data analysis aligns with my passion for solving complex problems, while web development allows me to combine my creativity with technology. Pursuing both has been a fulfilling and rewarding journey.
