HoDs Appointed for Newly Approved Programmes in UNICROSS

The Management of University of Cross River State has appointed Heads of Departments for newly approved programmes in the University.
Professor Austin Angba, Vice Chancellor of the University, announced names of the newly appointed Heads of Departments during the University's Enlarged Management meeting held yesterday.

Some of the newly appointed Heads of Department are Dr. Cassius Ogar, Acting Head of Department of Entrepreneurship Studies,
Dr. Anthony Odu Oru, Acting Head of Department of Banking and Finance, Dr. Francis Anoka, Acting Head of Department of Economics, Dr. Ofut Ogar, Acting Head of Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Julius Obidinnu, Acting Head of Department of Information System, Dr. Sunday Ebaye, Acting Head of Department of Peace Studies, Dr. Eteng Eloma, Acting Head of Department of Sociology and Dr. Tabe Ntui, Acting Head of Department of Industrial Chemistry.
Similarly, Dr. Michael Ayang-Nzan has been appointed as Acting Head of Department of Broadcasting while Mr. Cornelius Ellah has been appointed as Acting Head of Department of Journalism Studies.
Before his recent appointment, Mr. Ellah was Acting Head of Department of Mass Communication.
Dr. John Ukam has been appointed to replace him in that office.

All the newly appointed Heads of Departments are expected to assume duties immediately.
Their appointments will terminate at the end of September 2025.

It will be recalled that the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently gave approval to the University to commence academic activities in seventeen new programmes.
The University is currently admitting students into all the new programmes.

We heartily congratulate all the newly appointed Heads of Departments and wish them success in the discharge of their duties.

We have just been notified that our student; GEORGE TALENT, who happens to be a contestant at De9jaspirit Talent Hunt currently needs our votes to scale through in the competitions as he is currently up for possible evictions. If you have been following his content, you will attest to the fact that he has been super amazing from the start of the competitions till date, you can even testify from the numerous events he has graced on campus.
Dear blazers, this is a support call to all, let's save our own. A vote costs #50 and much votes are needed(one can vote as many times as possible).

Gov. Otu Commits To Making State University Amongst Leading Institutions

Cross River State Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, says he is committed to making the University of Cross State one of the leading tertiary institutions in the country.

The governor made the commitment when he received the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Augustin Angba, and his management team on a courtesy visit.

According to Otu, a society's academic foundation must be securely established for it to advance.

"For any society to progress, the academic foundation must be solidly entrenched. That is why I facilitated the building of a befitting administrative block to provide the needed comfort for staff and lecturers.

"My administration will continue to work to ensure that UNICROSS becomes one of the leading tertiary institutions in this country and beyond," the governor said.

In light of the current economic difficulties, Governor Otu indicated that he will review the monthly subvention to them to ensure some structural changes in the institution.

"The challenges you face, I already know. We will review the monthly subvention in the light of current challenges and will continue to work together to resolve the issues.

Speaking during the visit, the Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Prof. Austin Angba, while congratulating the governor on his assumption of office, commended him for facilitating the building of the administrative block of the university while serving as a senator, expressing confidence that he will do more as the Chief Executive of the state.

"Many years ago I drove to UNICROSS and beheld the administrative block you facilitated when you were at the National Assembly. It speaks of a man who loves education. We thank you for facilitating that project, because we know that as governor, you will do more for the institution."

The VC disclosed that in recent ranking of universities, the University of Cross River State emerged as 7th Best University in Nigeria and 37th in sub-Saharan Africa."

While noting that the university academic calendar has been stabilized, he asked for more support from government.

This came days after the institution was named 7th best University in Nigeria.
