Seeing the World through A clear lense

To see clearly means not just opening your eyes but to open your heart to enable you interpret the vision that is before you. Thank You The Animal & Vegan Advocacy Summit for giving me the platform to speak for Nature.

Yesterday, at the First Animal & Vegan Advocacy (AVA) Summit , hosted in the very beautiful and hospitable city of Nairobi Kenya, the Founder and CEO of Vegan Journey Advocacy Joy Eyesan Mong Spoke at the closing Ceremony, on a somewhat unconventional but increasingly relevant topic: The Circle of Life: The African Myths and Ideologies in Relations to veganism.

This very topic became relevant in the growing advocacy for Veganism in Africa. It Connects African Myths and African traditional ideologies to veganism.

African traditional cosmologies have long held a holistic view of life that emphasizes the interconnectedness of all beings within the natural world.

While African cultures have historically included meat in their diets, their spiritual frameworks, rooted in respect for nature, reverence for animals, and the cyclical understanding of life, share important philosophical commonalities with the vegan ethos.

Her presentation, examined the relationship between African myths, ideologies, and the ethical principles of veganism, drawing parallels between ancient African worldviews and contemporary plant-based movements.

She Clinically explained what the Circle of life actually means and how African Myths and Folklore connects to Veganism and brought to light the African traditional and spiritual beliefs on life, death and rebirth.

In her Presentation she also made a cursory analysis of the views of prominent African vegans and their Philosophies like Nabaasa Innocent of Uganda, Virginia Ruguru (Kenya), Sizwe Nzima (South Africa), Omowale Adewale (Nigeria) and Leader Olumba Olumba Obu of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.

And we further revealed how African ideologies can serve as a valuable cultural foundation for promoting sustainable and ethical living in Africa.

It was a beautiful Outing and we believe this is just the beginning of a rapid Vegan Advocacy in Africa.

Congratulations to AVA International for putting up a soul lifting event and also to all the Sponsors Especially Thrive Philanthropy and Thrive Africa for giving a voice to Vegan Women Advocates in the continent.

Vegan Journey advocacy will be in Kenya for the first ever AVA Summit in Our dear continent, Africa.

Animal & Vegan Advocacy (AVA) Summit Kenya, is a landmark conference in Africa aiming to build and empower regional communities in fostering farmed animal protection within Africa, tackle Africa's specific advocacy challenges and improve systematic change through skill building , networking and collaboration.

Vegan Journey Advocacy will be represented by Joy Eyesan Mong who will be delivering a speech on the Circle of life: The African Myths and ideologies in relation to veganism.

It promises to be inspirational, informative and an eye opener to arrays of African traditional myths and ideologies that can organically help promote the vegan concept in Africa.

Join me if you are in Kenya, at the Mara ballroom, Emara Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi on Sunday, 20th of July 2025, during the Closing ceremony as I make this presentation. Together lets build the Africa of our dreams.

I look forward to connect with Vegan Advocates around the world during the summit.

Sentience, Respect - Not Speciesism!

Scientists have discovered that ants have self-awareness. We knew all along.

Researchers placed blue dots on their heads, and 23 out of 24 ants tried removing them after seeing their reflection in a mirror, proving they recognized themselves.

This rare behavior, seen in only a few large animals, shatters beliefs about insect intelligence and reveals that ants are far smarter than imagined.
