There are still communities in Abuja where twins, albino children, and babies born with deformities are secretly kpaied because of cultural practices. I also heard that in some areas, if a woman dies during childbirth, her baby is not allowed to live either. They believe the child must go with her.

History told us Mary Slessor stopped the killing of twins but unfortunately , this is still being practised. Yesterday, I met a man (Pastor Stevens Olusola) who’s been risking his life to stop this since 1996. He has rescued over 200 children so far. I spent my day interviewing him and meeting some of these children.

These children were once marked for death, just for being born different.

The interview will be posted in a few days.
My brothers and sisters, the fight against ignorance is still not over. When people in these villages were asked why they do this, all they could say was:
“Our grandparents did it. Our forefathers did it. So we must continue.”

These are villages that have been cut off from civilization.
They’ve held onto these practices for so long that no one is asking questions anymore.

These children deserve to live. And the world needs to hear their story.
Don’t scroll past it when the video drops.
