Executive Chairman of the State Senior Secondary Education Board Dr. Abubakar Sabo Yushau, has paid an unscheduled visit to Government Day Secondary School, Sindimina, in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.
During the visit, the Executive Chairman interacted with the school principal, teachers, and students, assessing both academic performance and the condition of school facilities.
Dr. Abubakar Sabo Yushau explained that the visit was part of the Board’s ongoing strategy to strengthen monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, ensuring that all senior secondary schools in the state operate in accordance with government policies and educational standards.
According to him, the visit was to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of teaching and learning, as well as to focus on teachers’ commitment and students’ attendance, noting that minor challenges were observed, which will be promptly addressed and the Board Officials extended similar supervision to Kazaure Zone.
In a related development, a delegation from the board led by Permanent Member I, Malam Abdullahi Hudu, conducted monitoring visits to senior secondary schools across the Kazaure Zone.
At the end of the exercise, Malam Abdullahi Hudu expressed satisfaction with the high level of commitment displayed by teachers and school administrators, urging others to rededicate themselves to duty and uphold professional ethics.
However, he expressed displeasure over the conduct of the principal and teachers of Government Day Secondary School, Dandi, who were not present in the school after 9:00 a.m, and therefore directed the concerned staff to report to the Board Headquarters on Wednesday for further action.
He also warned that the Board would no longer tolerate negligence or absenteeism among teachers and school heads.
During the monitoring exercise, the team comprising Permanent Member II and several Directors of the Board visited GDSS Dandi, GDSS Gada, and GGUSS Kazaure. Other schools visited included GUSS Roni, GGDSS Roni, and GDSS Dansure in Roni Local Government Area.
The inspection which covered classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices, and student hostels, Malam Abdullahi Hudu reiterated the Board’s commitment to improving teacher welfare, capacity building, and the provision of instructional materials to enhance teaching and learning efficiency.
He reaffirmed the Board’s determination to continue its school visitation programme periodically across all educational zones, as part of efforts to strengthen supervision, accountability, and quality service delivery in the state’s education sector.
Malam Abdullahi further appealed to teachers and principals to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities and reciprocate the government’s commitment to providing quality education in Jigawa State.
In their separate remarks, the principals of the schools visited commended the Board for its proactive approach, describing the visit as timely and motivating as they assured the Board of their continued cooperation and commitment to raising academic standards in their respective institutions.
