The yield of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) and crude palm oil (CPO) per hectare varies depending on factors such as tree age, soil quality, climate, farming practices, and variety of oil palm. Here are the general figures:
1. FFB Yield per Hectare
a. Young Plantation (3-5 years old): Around 10-15 tons of FFB per hectare per year.
b. Mature Plantation (6-10 years old): Approximately 20-25 tons of FFB per hectare per year.
c. Optimally Managed Plantation (10-30 years old): Typically, yields range from 25-35 tons of FFB per hectare per year, though yields can be higher with optimal practices.
2. CPO Yield per Hectare
CPO Yield (per ton of FFB): On average, oil palm mills produce 18-24% crude palm oil from FFB. This percentage can vary depending on the efficiency of the mill and the quality of the FFB.
For example, if a plantation yields 25 tons of FFB per hectare, you can expect roughly 5-6 tons of crude palm oil (CPO) per hectare per year (25 tons FFB x 20-24% CPO extraction).
