Mystery deepens as court declines to rely On Social Media Reports In Sagbama Council Chairman's removal.

The High Court of Bayelsa State, sitting in Yenagoa, has held that it cannot determine the alleged removal of the Executive Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Council, Hon. Mrs. Alice Tangi Allen, and her Vice Hon Sufade Tobi Jefferson.
based on social media publications.

Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Inikade Eradiri, made the pronouncement while ruling on the matter.

According to the court, although the Claimants tendered an oral application in evidence, it would be improper in law to rely on social media reports and speculations to establish the purported removal of a sitting Local Government Council Chairman and Vice Chairman.

The court further held that only a Certified True Copy of the proceedings of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly would be admissible as evidence to prove the alleged legislative action.

Lead Counsel to the Claimants informed the court that the Claimants had earlier made an official request to the Bayelsa State House of Assembly for the release of the Certified True Copy of its proceedings relating to the matter.

Counsel stated that the House allegedly declined to release the said document.

He therefore urged the court to intervene and compel the Bayelsa State House of Assembly to make the document available, arguing that it is a public record.

In view of the above, the court adjourned the matter to the 27th day of August, 2026, to enable the Claimants to produce the Certified True Copy in proof of their case.

Speaking to Journalists shortly after the court proceedings, one of the Counsels to the Claimants, Andrew Author, former Attorney General of Bayelsa State expressed optimism that the Assembly would release the document, noting
noted that the House of Assembly is an institution that is bound by law and is expected to comply with lawful requests for public records.

In some communities, people are now using disused car tire covers instead of zinc, aluminum, or stone-coated roofing sheets to build roofs.

The outer rubber of old tires is cut, flattened, and layered to form a durable and weather-resistant roof.

Surprisingly, these tire roofs look fantastic and unique giving buildings a creative and rustic appeal.

Many prefer them because rubber lasts longer than metal sheets, as it doesn’t rust, corrode, or get easily damaged by rain and sun.
It’s also a sustainable solution that recycles waste tires that would have polluted the environment.

Overall, Using disused car tires for roofing shows innovation, creativity, and practicality in turning waste into something valuable and long-lasting.
