Institutes,Prof D**e,Others Celebrate Otonti At 100
Several dignitaries penultimate week,including participants celebrated Distinguished Prof. Emeitus Otonti Nduka at a 2- Day National Conference/ Centenary Celebration On values education held at the Rivers state University in Port Harcourt.
However, the event witnessed the who is Who' in the academia who shared their thoughts on the sub-theme: Revitalizing Ethical and Moral Education delivered by the Executive Secretary Nigeria Education Research and Development Centre (NERDC),Prof. Salihu Shehu ,represented by a Director of the Centre Dr. Chima Egbujuo.
Prof. Shehu had explained that inculcating the right values in children will help build a better and safe society. He maintained that what the centre is pushing on hand is to ensure children acquire the needed values that will help them build a better society because without value,the society is finished. "What we are pushing at hand is to ensure the right values are properly entrenched in the school system,". The Executive Secretary suggested that the way forward to some of the challenges faced in our society is to rebuild a system through the curriculum where value education will be build into all the subject of studies" even as he lauded the celebrant Professor Emeritus Otonti Nduka on his 100th birthday.
Also speaking at the sideline, the President Ikwerre Professors Forum (IPF) Prof. Samuel C.D**e ,praised Professor Emeritus Otonti Nduka for his meaningful and dedicated life style,stressing that reaching a Centenary is a remarkable milestone and a testament not only to a long and blessd life but also to a legacy of wisdom,dedication and inspiration.
Prof. D**e insisted that the younger generation must go though the right history to learn because without history it is difficult to chat the right future. "And when history has been played with personality such as Prof. Otonti Nduka,it got alot to learn from his wealth of experience" he said.

Institute Honours Etche Council Chairman Chima Njoku

As part of efforts in promoting good governance, accountability and effective administration in Nigeria, the institute of Corporate Governance, Employment and Human Resources Management ( ICGEHRM),has confered on the council Chairman's of Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Boniface Chima Njoku it's prestigious award for his impressive performance in grassroot leadership and administration. Conferring the award on the indefatigable Chairman at Okehi, council Headquarter, the President/ Chairman in council of the institute Prof. Jude Nwoka, said the award was aimed at celebrating excellence in public service and encouraging sustained commitment to ethical governance and human capital development even as he lauded Hon.Njoku for his developmental strides in Etche land.

Clergies at the 119th and 6th Biennial Conference of the African Church have tasked president Bola Tinubu administration to address key issues of social - political concern facing the nation. The clergies at a world press conference to marked the 119th and 6th conference of the African church in Rivers state, chaired by the Primate, His Eminence Julius Osayande Olayinka Abbe called on President Tinubu to as a matter of urgent concern, respond to the economic hardship,inflation,insecurity,terrorism, political tensions,electoral integrity,ethnic ,religious divisions and many other issues in the country. The Conference with the Theme: Lord , Increase Our Faith taken from luke 17:5 , advised christians across Nigeria and the world to unite in faith according to the teachings of Jesus Christ." The Apostles did not relate to Jesus Christ as servants to master, or even as a disciple to his master. They didn't call Him Rabba either, they addressed Him as 'lord', there is a limit to what you can receive or access from God until you accept the lordship of Christ over your life" the primate said. His Eminence reminded christians that as the nation's anticipate change of government -at all levels ahead of 2027 ," it is quite imperative we do it in the fear of God as a Steward of God that will stand before Him someday to give nothing but an honest account of our stewardship while we lived in the flesh." he said. Prof Grace Akaloku, Participants Suggestions Stiffer Penalty for land grabbing

The 130th Inaugural lecturer at the Rivers state University Prof. Grace Ogonda Akaloku,guests including participants during her lecture unanimously suggested a stronger penalty aganist activities of land grabbing in Rivers and Nigeria at large. Prof.Akaloku in her lecture titled: Land As The Epicenter Of Man: ... Calls for a Stiffer laws for the criminalization of activities of land grabbing through the constitution with a Ten years imprisonment or the option of a N10 million fine as a warning. "Landgrabbing should be criminalized in our constitution. And 10 years imprisonment or option of #10 million fine prescribed for any offenders* she said. Also speaking at the sideline, the Branch Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (MBA),Omoku, Barr.Eze Ahiakwo praised the inaugural lecturer for her boldness in disserting on the land use Act, especially the relevant sections that affects the right of ownership and the rights of the people over land ownership. He maintained that the guest lecturer stressed the important of land to man on his day to day activities,adding that he will also add his voice to her recommendations for a reform especially on the thorns and the area of compensation." The area of compensation has to be revisited for the overall benefits of all." he said.

Environmentalist Cum Musician Warns Against Social Vices Amongst Youths

Rivers born environmentalist and up coming musician Ruchyz Radianz has advised young artists across Nigeria to be good at whatever their hands finds to do,calling on them to always avoid shortcut and anything that will drag the names of their families into disreputes.

Ruchyz Radianz,who was a guest artist at the Institute Of Geoscience and Environmental Management (IGM),3rd International Conference in Port Harcourt, equally called on upcoming musicians to always engaged themselves into meaningful activities including skills and keep away from social vices that will endanger their future.

Etche Frontline Industrialist Suggest Ways For Adequate Compensation

Afrontline industrialist Mr.Anucha Christian has called on the people of Etche ethnic- nationality to look beyond infrastructure and resources,but to remain resolute and reflect on the state of the area about issue of insecurity,youth restiveness and erosion of values,which he said pose serions danger to the development of the area.

Mr. Christian, spoke at the sideline of Ogbakor Etche 2026 Easter Convention,stressing that the exploration by multi- National companies in Etche land without a clear view or adequate compensation have further impoverish the people citing Umechem as a point in case.

"The multi- National companies came without a clear view to the land in which they occupied. They exploit the people without adequate compensation" he said.

He maintained that the way out of the frustration,is for the people to be able to regulate some of the activities of government agencies of the impact on the environment which he explained could minimized and help to develop the area.

Mr.Chtistian who is the CEO of Anuchriz International, lauded Dr.Silas Anyanwu led president of Ogbakor Etche for his visionary leadership even as he suggested that for compensation to be paid, the people must continue to press on with one voice and engaging the government to know exactly what the people of Umuechem went through in the hands of Shell and their collaborators.

NUJ Rivers Council Worries Over State Of Primary/Secondary Schools, Others In Rivers

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Rivers Council has expressed concern over the poor state of primary and secondary schools in the state.To this end, the union led by comrade Paul Bazia called on the state Government to expedite action and ensure the state of emergency declared on education translate into action. In a eight points communique signed by the Chairman Paul Bazia,Secretary Ijeoma Tubosia and 3 others at the end of the union's Congress in Port Harcourt,called on the government to fix primary and secondary schools dilapidated or vandalized by hoodlums,while action should be expedited on teachers recruitment and ensuring effective and equitable posting of teachers to schools especially those at the rural areas.

Recalled that the Congress marked the one year anniversary of the Paul Bazia led executive and was attended by practicing journalists in Rivers State including veterans and deliberated extensively on matters affecting the state. The statement equally called government to step up action on reviving the primary healthcare centers across the state, and as well give priority attention to Government owned media by refurbishing them and recruiting new staff for effective media jobs. The body advised government to take advantage of the amended electricity law in Nigeria to invest in the power sector to generate enough power to encourage investment and enhance economic growth. The council commended the Rivers State House Assembly for the recent live broadcast of the Governor's commissioner nominees screening exercise, but expressed dismay over the disqualification of some nominees because of personal opinions they expressed in the media before their normination, even as the Council viewed disqualificatio as a violation of their freedom of expression.The union Urged the Assembly to recall the suspended members of the State Assembly in the spirit of ongoing recon
