*COUNCIL CHAIRMAN SUSPENDS AJI COMMUNITY VIGILANTE GROUP FOR GROSS UNPROFESSIONALISM*

Hon. Michael Uche Ogalla, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, has condemned the gruesome murder of Emenike Abugu by the Neighbourhood Watch Group of Aji, Enugu-Ezike.

On Monday, April 7, Hon. Ogalla visited the family of the deceased to offer his condolences and assured them that justice would be served.

"We will make sure that the late Emenike Abugu gets adequate justice, and we will ensure that such incident doesn't repeat in Aji Community," he said.

Late Emenike Abugu was murdered by some members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group of Aji Community, following a misunderstanding with them.

Hon. Ogalla has taken the following actions:

*Dissolution of Local Security Operatives*: The Aji Local Security operatives, also known as the Neighbourhood Watch Group, have been dissolved with immediate effect.

*Deployment of Strike Force Team*: The Igbo-Eze North strike force team will take charge of security in Aji for a period of six months to restore order and ensure public safety.

Hon. Ogalla's administration is committed to upholding justice and ensuring the security of all citizens of Igbo-Eze North. The Council Chairman has mandated a thorough investigation into the incident and has assured the family of the deceased that the perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.

*SUSPENSION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT TASKFORCE DUE TO ALLEGED EXTORTION*

Hon. Michael Uche Ogalla, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Council, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Local Government Taskforce due to extortion allegations.

In line with the Governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubusi Mbah's policy of zero tolerance for extortion in Enugu state and the transformation agenda of the Council Chairman of Igbo-Eze North, the activities of the Taskforce team is hereby suspended.

The Taskforce was responsible for managing market road congestion and enforcing speed limits for vehicles and motorcycles in Igbo-Eze North LGA.

This decision aims to address concerns about the Taskforce's conduct and ensure a fair and safe environment for residents. During the suspension, the Executive Chairman will review the Taskforce's activities and develop new strategies to:

- *Improve Market Road discongestion*: Enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion in market areas.

- *Regulate Motorcycle and Vehicle Speed*: Implement effective measures to prevent overspeeding and ensure road safety.

- *Promote Public Safety*: Foster a secure and orderly environment for residents and businesses.

In the meantime, Hon. Ogalla urges the people of Igbo-Eze North LGA to continue their daily activities while adhering to traffic regulations. This suspension demonstrates the Council Chairman's commitment to accountability and public well-being.

I notice one unfortunate trend - it occurs to me there's a very wide generational gap in wisdom and intelligence of the older generation and mine.

Conspicuously, our generation has and enjoys civilization but not as intelligent as the older generation were

When I sit with the elderly ones and hear the accomplishments they'd had at so so so age, and how they went about achieving it, I check people of that age bracket and realise they aren't close to it.

The older generation seem to be rooted in intelligence and had a wise way of applying it in all areas of life.

Let's take 30years as a case study.

A 30year old man of the older generation were intellectually ripe for marriage and 90 out of 100 of them managed their marriages well.
An average 30year old man now is not even intellectual ripe for marriage, needless to say the rate of marriage crashes.

At 30years, most of the older generation had already taken leadership positions and larger percentage of them did well.
At 30years, many guys of nowadays will rather fight to defend leaders and remain as followers.

At 30years, men of the older generation were vastly versed and could guide their younger relatives with words of wisdom and wise analysis, it is not the same today.

This is in spite their lack of exposure and civilization, yet, they grew in native intelligence and wisdom. The generation that has technology, modern education and exposure are albeit civilised but bereft of intelligence.

Once upon a time, in the beautiful village of umuagama in Enugu Ezike, there existed a peaceful and united clan called Umu-Uja. This clan was blessed with abundant natural resources and fertile land, which they had inherited from their wise and revered forefather, Adonuh Apeh. Adonuh Apeh had two sons, Odoh and Thomas, who in turn had multiple descendants. Odoh had four sons, while Thomas had seven sons, all of whom lived harmoniously in the clan.

However, trouble began to brew in Umu-Uja when Odoh's grandson, Attah, started selling off portions of their land in the west. Despite the warnings and cautions from his family members, Attah turned a deaf ear and continued to sell the land for personal gain. This led to a bitter dispute within the clan, as many members were angered by Attah's actions.

As tensions rose, the members of Umu-Uja decided to come together and sell off all the remaining portions of the land in the west, as they no longer wished to live close to the areas that had caused so much strife. This decision further fueled Attah' anger, and he began to threaten violence against some members of the families who had agreed to sell the land.

Tragedy struck on the fateful night of April 4, 2010, when Attah carried out his threat and brutally murdered the respected chief, Odoh Okechukwu. This heinous act sent shockwaves through the clan, leaving them in mourning and chaos.

For the next 14 years, Umu-Uja lived in fear and unrest, as the shadow of Attah' actions loomed over them. The once peaceful and united clan was now divided and distrustful of one another. Families that had once been close now kept their distance, and the land that had once been a source of pride and prosperity now brought only sorrow and pain.

In the year 2024, the clan of Umu-Uja gathered once again to address the lingering issue of the remaining portions of the land. Despite the wounds of the past still fresh, they knew that they needed to come together and find a resolution to the conflict that had torn them apart.

As they deliberated on how to divide the land, old grudges and grievances surfaced, threatening to derail the peace talks. It seemed as though the scars of the past were too deep to heal, and the once close-knit clan was on the brink of collapse.

I am sad to note that the departure of Dist. Sen. Simon Ayogu Eze from planet Earth - as all mortals are wont - is now officially confirmed.

In keeping with our tradition of honouring our departing distinguished personalities, the body of the late Distinguished Senator will be received at ADADA HOUSE, Nsukka on Friday 14th June, 2024 at 8.30 a.m. for his last session with us.

You are hereby please, kindly invited to be there and to be seated by 8.30 a.m. for the brief ceremony before the onward home-journey.

Thanks for finding time for this solemn ceremony of bidding this our illustrious son a final goodbye. Remember, as we mourn the dead, we mourn ourselves too.
