Day 57 – Horror Story
I heard footsteps following me home.
At first, I ignored them.
The street was nearly empty.
Cold wind.
Dim streetlights.
Normal city sounds.
But every time I walked faster—
the footsteps behind me matched my pace.
Step.
Step.
Step.
Perfectly timed.
My chest tightened.
I glanced back quickly.
No one there.
The sidewalk was empty.
I laughed nervously to myself and kept walking.
Then—
step.
Step.
STEP.
Closer now.
Right behind me.
I spun around again.
Still nothing.
No movement.
No shadows.
Just silence.
My breathing became uneven.
I pulled out my phone and started recording with the flashlight on.
“Okay, this isn’t funny anymore,” I whispered.
The camera pointed down the empty street behind me.
Nothing there.
But the footsteps continued.
Louder.
Faster.
As if someone invisible was running toward me.
I broke into a sprint.
The footsteps sprinted too.
Right at my back.
I reached my apartment building shaking violently and slammed the front door behind me.
Silence.
Finally.
I leaned against the wall trying to breathe.
Then my phone buzzed.
Video processing complete.
Confused, I opened the recording.
The camera showed me running down the empty street.
Alone.
No one behind me.
But the audio—
The audio captured footsteps.
Dozens of them.
Running beside me.
Around me.
And one voice whispering over and over—
“Don’t let him stop running.”
My blood ran cold.
Because near the end of the video…
another set of footsteps started.
Slow.
Heavy.
Not chasing me.
Walking calmly behind the others.
Then a deep voice said clearly—
“He’s almost home.”
And suddenly—
someone knocked slowly on my apartment door.
