In his national address, Tinubu announced a series of palliatives aimed at easing the impact of the high cost of living in the country. Among the measures he introduced were various forms of assistance, including loans for businesses and students, as well as a review of the minimum wage.
The President assured the nation that the government is collaborating with labor unions to establish a new national minimum wage for workers. He conveyed the message to workers that their salary review is on the horizon. Once an agreement is reached on the new minimum wage and overall wage increase, the necessary budget provisions will be made for immediate implementation.
The President also acknowledged and commended private employers in the Organised Private Sector who have already taken the initiative to raise salaries for their employees. He empathized with the challenges the nation is facing and urged everyone to focus on the bigger picture. Despite the temporary difficulties, he expressed confidence in the effectiveness of their plans, assuring the public that they are diligently working towards positive outcomes.
The President acknowledged that there may have been some time lag between subsidy removal and the full activation of their plans, but he emphasized that the gap is rapidly closing. He earnestly requested the people's trust in the government's ability to deliver and their genuine concern for the well-being of the citizens.
He concluded his address by offering hope that the nation will overcome the current turbulence, and as a result of the measures taken, Nigeria will be better prepared to embrace a promising future.
