Psalm 4:6 (NIV):
“Many, Lord, are asking, ‘Who will bring us prosperity?’
Let the light of your face shine on us.”
In common language:
A lot of people are looking for happiness and good things in life. They want success, wealth, and comfort, and they wonder who or what will give them those things. But the writer of the psalm (King David) is saying, instead of chasing after those things, we should look to God. He is asking God to show His kindness and love—like shining His light on us. That kind of blessing is better than anything money or success can give.
A little deeper:
This verse reminds us that true joy and peace don’t come from money or material things. They come from knowing God and feeling His presence in our lives. When God “shines His face” on us, it means He’s giving us His favor, attention, and care.
