📖 I WAS BODY SHAMED😭😭
I remember that day like it was yesterday.
I was in my corner, minding my business, my spirit high, my smile wide.
Then she looked at me from head to toe and said,
> "Hmm… you’ve added weight o! with just two(2) children
I laughed a little, thinking maybe it was just a small casual talk. But the way her eyes lingered on my stomach, I knew it wasn’t just conversation — it was judgment wrapped in fake concern.
My heart sank.
Why would my fellow woman — someone who knows how hard life can be — shame me like this?
What did my body do to her?
Is it a crime that I love food?
Did my hips block her destiny?
"NA FAT I FAT, I NO KEE PERSON"🙄🙄
And let’s be real…
I just gave birth a few months ago.
I’m still a breastfeeding mother.
I’m literally carrying life in one hand and trying to shed pregnancy fat and weight in the other.
Body changes take time — and even if they don’t, it’s still MY body.
So, me too, I decided to give it back to her small.
I looked at her slim frame and said, "See you… ọkpụkpụ azụ" (fish bone).
I thought I had won the battle.
But the Holy Spirit didn’t let me rest.
That night, while I was cooking, He whispered:
"Apologize to her."
I reminded Him of what she said that made me cry.
"Lord, she started it…"
But he kept nudging: "You are responsible for your words, not hers."
So, if you’re reading this, sis… I’m sorry for calling you ọkpụkpụ azụ🤣🤣
And please, next time, don’t body shame me.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
We can’t heal body shaming by body shaming back.
Whether fat, slim, tall, or short — everybody is carrying their own battles.
My weight doesn’t make me less beautiful, and your size doesn’t make you more worthy.
🥰 To every woman😍 reading this:👇👇
Your body is not an apology.
You are not too fat, too skinny, too short, or too tall — you are too amazing to be reduced to a body type.
Repeat after me:
"This is my body. I will love it, feed it, move it, and respect it. And nobody will shame me for existing."
Share this with a sister, a friend, or even that one person who thinks comments about someone’s body are “just jokes.”
Let’s spread kindness❤, not shame.
